YoloinOhio Posted January 10, 2017 Posted January 10, 2017 Surprising since defense was the issue for the Raiders, not offense. 6th ranked offense in NFL. QB coach Todd Downing expected to replace him. He was Bills QB coach in 2014. http://oak.247sports.com/Bolt/Report-Bill-Musgrave-not-expected-to-return-in-2017-50448483
FireChan Posted January 10, 2017 Posted January 10, 2017 Top ten in points! Only the Bills would be this stupid.
Saint Doug Posted January 10, 2017 Posted January 10, 2017 (edited) Add him to the list then. Wonder why?Considering this is the NFL, is wager it had nothing to do with the product on the field. That is, his ego hurt another, more powerful, man's ego. Edited January 10, 2017 by Saint Doug
CommonCents Posted January 10, 2017 Posted January 10, 2017 Maybe they were afraid Downing was going to get another job and wanted to keep him paired with Carr.
jr1 Posted January 10, 2017 Posted January 10, 2017 hard to imagine they'd do this without Carr's blessing
Saint Doug Posted January 10, 2017 Posted January 10, 2017 hard to imagine they'd do this without Carr's blessing While I'm sure they may have asked for his input, I doubt they asked for his blessing. He's not that accomplished (yet).
Blokestradamus Posted January 10, 2017 Posted January 10, 2017 (edited) Maybe they were afraid Downing was going to get another job and wanted to keep him paired with Carr. I've seen some media tweets to that end. Makes sense. @caplannfl On QBs coach Todd Downing, coaches were told within last hour or so that he was being promoted to OC. Thoughts on Musgrave out: He did a solid job. JDR wants more out of the offensive personnel, especially RBs. More creativity. It's not often an offensive coordinator from 12-4, playoff team is not retained, but JDR wants more out of offensive personnel. Musgrave will have options elsewhere. His contract was up and was not renewed. Edited January 10, 2017 by Blokestradamus

Malazan Posted January 11, 2017 Posted January 11, 2017 He's only had one year where he had a "successful" offense. JDR did him a favor letting him look for another job coming off last season. For some unidentifiable reason, I feel this is where Lynn ends up.

cale Posted January 11, 2017 Posted January 11, 2017 You know what's really funny? Tom Clements the Assistant HC/Offense for GB Packers used to be on our staff. As did Alex Van Pelt. We all know AVP. Also note that GB coveted JP Losman. They considered Aaron Rodgers the consolation prize. This is why we can't have nice things...

That didn't go well.

And if GB had drafted Losman, he'd probably be a Superbowl-winning, All-Pro, future Hall-of-Fame, State Farm Spokesman quarterback too. And Rodgers would have flamed out with the Bills.

Uffalo Ills Posted January 11, 2017 Posted January 11, 2017 While I'm sure they may have asked for his input, I doubt they asked for his blessing. He's not that accomplished (yet). Doesn't matter how accomplished he is. He's clearly the face of the franchise and the leader of that offense. They'd need him to sign off on that kind of move.

They'd need him to sign off on that kind of move. They may have solicited Carr's opinion but that's it. 'Sign off' means he could say no and change the decision and no player has that power.
