YoloinOhio Posted January 9, 2017 Posted January 9, 2017 @rapsheet The #Jaguars arent done. They are hiring Tom Coughlin as an executive, source says. He interviewed as a coach, staying as exec. Nail in the coffin of Dave Caldwell I guess
HumbleAndHungry Posted January 9, 2017 Posted January 9, 2017 VP of football ops, Caldwell gets 2 year extension
WhitewalkerInPhilly Posted January 9, 2017 Posted January 9, 2017 I like this idea for them better than St Doug. Too bad for us.
YoloinOhio Posted January 9, 2017 Author Posted January 9, 2017 I wanted him in this role here. Oh well.
YoloinOhio Posted January 9, 2017 Author Posted January 9, 2017 @adamschefter Jaguars extending contract of GM Dave Caldwell two years, giving him matching three-year deals with Doug Marrone and Tom Coughlin. Title is Executive VP of Football Operations, per Schefter

jimmy10 Posted January 9, 2017 Posted January 9, 2017 Meh, how well did the football czar thing work out for Cleveland and Mike Holmgren? Moving on.
BillsGuru4 Posted January 9, 2017 Posted January 9, 2017 Smart hire, bad division, good young top 5 picks, doug is not a bad coach, they just need a competent oc and they could turn it around
Nihilarian Posted January 9, 2017 Posted January 9, 2017 I'd bet a lot of money Jags make it to the playoffs before the Bills. Same! They gave the current GM an extension to match the contracts of Marrone, Coughlin Adam SchefterVerified account @AdamSchefter 19m19 minutes ago Jaguars extending contract of GM Dave Caldwell two years, giving him matching three-year deals with Doug Marrone and Tom Coughlin.
GG Posted January 9, 2017 Posted January 9, 2017 I'd bet a lot of money Jags make it to the playoffs before the Bills. I'd take that bet too if I had to play Colts, Titans & Texans instead of Pats*, Dolphins & Jets.
Wayne Cubed Posted January 9, 2017 Posted January 9, 2017 Meh. I don't get Coughlins role. He's never been a personnel guy, so what's his job exactly? To coach the coach and GM? I'd bet this fails just like Holmgren did in Cleveland and I think Holmgren was a better coach than Coughlin.
jr1 Posted January 9, 2017 Posted January 9, 2017 is Coughlin going to stop playing the grandpa on Blue Bloods?
BuffaloRebound Posted January 9, 2017 Posted January 9, 2017 I bet Coughlins presence eliminated most of the guys they interviewed (can't see how it's not awkward reporting to a guy who clearly wanted the head coaching job and has no front office experience)and that's how Doug the quitter got the job.
mead107 Posted January 9, 2017 Posted January 9, 2017 I am happy they got the old man. Keeps him out of Buffalo
White Linen Posted January 9, 2017 Posted January 9, 2017 Little stumped at this move. I'd think his real value is the attitude he brings and what he commands from his players on the field. To just say he can succeed as an executive is unknown.
