Thinner coaches on the sidelines.

Hahaha, totally!

Seriously though, if the coaches have no self discipline....How will the players?

Completely get rid of all free agents and just cut the fat. This team is going nowhere as presently constructed. The culture of losers has to be swept away completely. A new head coach has to have the experience and also the OK to construct a team as he sees fit. The owners need to hand a blank check over and take their yacht to Sri Lanka until November. Complete overhaul.

We just cut a lot of fat with the Ryan bros gone!

Until Brandon and Whaley are both gone and the Pegulas hire someone competent to run the entire football side of the show OBD is going to continue to burn like a tire fire, slowly and with the ****-load of smoke.

A lot of positive will come via addition by subtraction.

We have already started with Rex. The defense can get better fast without him.

Really depends on who they get for HC and QB. If they are bums then it's tank time and that would be exciting to final get a top pick in a good QB draft. If they are good then maybe we pull something together and get to 10-6 and get to the playoffs so really is going to be great either way. Can't wait woohoo!

I would get excited if Barbarian gets his wish and the Bills draft Jake Butt.

I can hear the calls now: "Pass is complete to Butt." " Butt is wide open". "What a catch by Butt!" and of course "Butt fumbles" to which the fans yell out. "Sanchez!!"

Red helmets.

The old end zones.

A little less train whistle.

But more cow bell!

After 45 years as a season ticket holder......

I am done...........time to take up with something I can control

The Bills are far to predictable.

We will hire a rookie head coach, he will struggle, we will fire the guy then start over.

I haven't posted a lot this past week because I haven't been able to decide how I feel about all of these changes. I know that Rex had to go. I am good with Whaley staying. I'm unhappy with TT being gone, if that's what happens.

But overall, I just can't seem to find anything to get excited about with any of these Head Coaches, FA, or Draft. All three of these areas seem to be a matter of better than nothing.

With Head Coaches, no one really jumps out at me. I was hoping Todd Haley would be a candidate, but he's not being mentioned for any team. None of the coordinators had a truly amazing season. Mike Smith is the only coach that had previous head coaching success and he's not on our radar. Defensively, we will only get better without Rex. But offensively, I'm very worried about creating a new offensive identity. That is, unless we somehow retain Lynn as OC, which is rare for a new head coach to do. As for Lynn, there is just too much he doesn't know about being a Head Coach and I DO NOT want to rebuild

FA is rough because we have so many players we need to re-sign, that I don't see us being able to make a splash. Lorax should get paid, but he's also up there in age. Zach fell off a cliff in the second half. I DO NOT think Gilmore is worth what he will get elsewhere. Woods is bound to get overpaid as well. Regardless, losing them still creates holes that would need to be filled. So it's a catch-22.

This draft looks to be incredibly average to me at positions of need, being WR, RT, QB (if TT is gone), S, and DB (If Gilmore is gone). The draft is the reason why I wish we could magically have all of our players extended on more year with a new defensive coach. Our talent level was good enough for the playoffs. If we had our same roster, same OC, added Mike Williams, a starting RT and S, I think we are in the playoffs.

Unfortunately, I can't see how we can keep the parts that worked, improve in areas we need, and plug the holes being made through attrition.

Well, that was depressing. Sorry

read a story on PFT lastnight about how Todd Haley is open for interviews this year but none have come...guess last season he told ppl he wasnt doing any interviews and so this year they just didnt call him..I too would like to see Haley get an interview..knows how to run the ball and Cardale has been compared to big Ben...wonder if he gets some calls now that the word is out he is interested again

You need to focus your energy on "making the tailgate great again" instead of "making the Bills great again". If you focus on the tailgate, something you have more control over, you can build a winner. Then you can invite your friends to the game with you and bask in the glory of what you have created - even if the Bills throw up yet another highly disappointing season.

You're easy to please!

Haha. All three are LONG overdue.

Plus, with three items, it gives Kim, Terry and Doug all something to "decide" on.

If Tyrod is truly gone, the only way that we are getting good long term is to bottom out next year. Our cap situation is a mess. Depressing, but hey, what Bills season hasn't been the last 17 years?

There's quite a number of things that could get me excited for next year. We can (and many do) look at the doom and gloom of finishing 7-9 this year, but why not optimism at a number of things:

  • Lesean McCoy was fantastic this year. 1,267 yards rushing at 5.4 YPC with 13 TD's and 50 receptions for another 356 yards with a TD. He was a beast. If he can get healthy and stay healthy, there's no reason to believe he can't be even better. After all, he got limited help in terms of the passing game loosening up the run game.
  • We got Sammy Watkins for just 8 games this season and he was still hobbled in the games that he played. Would I be more excited if he were healthy for the entirety of a season?
  • We lost Dareus to suspension for the first 4 games of the season and then another 4 games due to injury. Similarly, would I be happier if he were healthy and played all 16? It wouldn't hurt my feelings either if the new HC didn't try to use a $95 million pass rusher as a two technique nose tackle. That's befuddled me for awhile now.
  • We didn't see Reggie Ragland for even one game this season. Brown and Alexander were excellent in terms of free agents filling in the holes, but the long term future of the team (which I would get excited for), involve Ragland.
  • Lawson also played only 10 games, starting in 1. Like Ragland, he's the future. He didn't start because Alexander was so good, but he will.
  • The Bills draft 10th. Doesn't seem like it's all that great, but Jonathan Allen (DE) and Myles Garrett (DE) will definitely be gone before the Bills pick. I'm not putting a priority on the rest, but one of the following will be available: Mitch Trubisky (QB), Deshaun Watson (QB), Jamal Adams (SS), Malik Hooker (FS), Marlon Humphrey (CB), Teez Tabor (CB), Mike Williams (WR), Delvon Cook (RB), Leonard Fournette (RB). I would be equally excited to see them draft a player of the future (QB, RB) or a player needed in the present (SS, FS, CB, WR). Retaining Gilmore could make this a tough pick, but I think that's a nice problem to have none the less.

I don't like the look of the cap situation, but it's far from set in stone right now. They have $25.990 million in cap space, but that could go up by almost $17 million, depending on what happens with just a half a dozen players. The Bills have a lot of work to do with their own free agents, without any question. However, I think there's plenty of reasons (at least so far) to be optimistic.
