gjv001 Posted January 7, 2017 Posted January 7, 2017 Except for Andy Reid and Bill Parcells, most highly exclaimed HC's have had the good fortune of having an outstanding QB on his roster. Many of these HC's were primarily orientated to the defensive side of the ball. It doesn't appear that the Bills need to make it a prerequisit that the next HC be a developer of QB's. What really is neccessary is that the next HC is lucky enough to have an outstanding QB find his way onto the Bills Roster. http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/football/power-couples-ranking-32-coach-qb-tandems-nfl-article-1.2782588
jeffismagic Posted January 7, 2017 Posted January 7, 2017 You do realize that Jim Bob Cooter could help us pick our next QB? I would let him do that over Whaley. Cooter and we get a free Quarterback Czar.

prissythecat Posted January 7, 2017 Posted January 7, 2017 you should read how mccarthy developed rodgers. Please enlighten us. Was it similar to the way he developed Brian Brohm, Matt Flynn , Graham Harrell?
Marty McFly Posted January 8, 2017 Posted January 8, 2017 Please enlighten us. Was it similar to the way he developed Brian Brohm, Matt Flynn , Graham Harrell? Unrelated. Whats ip with the prissythecat handel. You a chick?
Dragonborn10 Posted January 8, 2017 Posted January 8, 2017 Agreed. The HC doesn't have to OC or DC to be successful. Pete didn't develop Wilson. The only thing that matters is fixing the defense and that is easily done with a switch to a 4-3 and upgrades at the safety positions - one FA and one first round draft pick.
GunnerBill Posted January 8, 2017 Posted January 8, 2017 McCarthy most definitely did develop Rodgers, but in a way you are prohibited from doing now through the CBA.
bmur66 Posted January 8, 2017 Posted January 8, 2017 I have begun to believe that great QB's are born, not "developed" when you get to the NFL level. They need the previous experience and a good support system. You can't make chicken soup out of chicken crap.

And yet, the guy who did, Bevell, might be available. Read up on how he scouted and essentially petitioned the team to Draft him. As well as how he helped Favre have one of his best seasons at the tail end of his career in Minnesota. Do not understand why Bevell doesn't get some interest from Bills.
Buffaloed in Pa Posted January 8, 2017 Posted January 8, 2017 Cannot make chicken soup ,out of chicken poop.
NoSaint Posted January 8, 2017 Posted January 8, 2017 You do realize that Jim Bob Cooter could help us pick our next QB? I would let him do that over Whaley. Cooter and we get a free Quarterback Czar. If he can stay sober and get a bit lucky on finding the right project

The only thing that matters is fixing the defense and that is easily done with a switch to a 4-3 and upgrades at the safety positions - one FA and one first round draft pick. What do we do with the top 3 picks from last years draft that were drafted for a 3-4 ?

tennesseeboy Posted January 9, 2017 Posted January 9, 2017 Well. Didn't Vince Lombardi develop Bart Starr who did nothing without him? Chuck Noll and Terry Bradshaw? Bill Walsh and third round pick joe Montana ? Pete Carol develop RussellWilson? Head coaches pick them and develop them. Al Davis and Jim Plunkett (and second stringer Darryl Lamonica took them to the Super Bowl )? I do hope the next coach knows enough to build a staff and work with what is available by the draft free agency or trade or better yet by coaching the talent we have From the slim pickings available at the moment he would be wise to start next season with Taylor and Jones and to dump EJ
