You know...if the quality and quantity of weapons was the arbiter of conflict, we would have won Vietnam.

This is a good point to keep in mind.

But I'm alluding to more than just the sudden increase in high tech (and expensive) weaponry and personnel attachments, there has been a noticeable change in Hariri since his return from KSA. He sounds like a man who has already beaten back Hezbollah. Enough to make the kind of statement he made in that article wherein he made it clear he believes his armed forces have the capability to not just deter, but banish Hezbollah from Lebanon.

... Which would be a major shift.

And would trace back to the changeover in KSA, a changeover whose shock waves are rippling through global events including our own political upheaval.

But we'll see in the coming weeks.

Re: Syria, here's what I expect to happen next. Russia will "leave", Syria will hold elections. Assad's core supporters have been taken out from the inside, he'll either lose the election or leave before them.

Something is going on. One sign is the silence from the Pentagon (three weeks without an update out of Combined Joint Task Force in Baghdad, usually there is one a week). Based on the speculations about Hariri and Lebanon above (especially the pictures), I'm going to assume there is a major Gulf Alliance operation going on in Lebanon against Hezbollah. This, in addition to the implosion in Yemen (Houthis are now fighting Ali Abdullah Saleh) and the collapse of ISIL in both Syria and Iraq (no more funding since November 4th), all points to something major going on behind the scenes militarily.

Big changes are afoot.

To be honest, you could bury an early-model M16 for decades, and it would work as well as brand new, too.

Fusion GPS Dossier cabal was using spy tradecraft to evade leaving electronic footprints for NSA surveillance

by Thomas Lifson

I suspect that we are in the process of uncovering the worst political scandal in American history, in which the most fearsome tool of federal government spying was turned against the Trump campaign. A cabal manipulated behind the scenes to subvert the legal safeguards that are supposed to prevent such an abuse.

The National Security Agency (NSA) picks up and records almost all electronic communications, thereby effectively wiretapping telephone conversations, email, and practically everything else we send out electronically. When a FISA court permits “unmasking” of American citizens, that universal wiretapping capability can be used to spy on their conversations.  It now appears that an elaborate plot was crafted to generate phony accusations of dirty ties to Russia that would be used to get a FISA Court warrant to “unmask” members of the Trump campaign, and thereby enable spying on that campaign. We do not know how many members of that campaign were “unmasked” (i.e., spied on), but there are suggestions that the list ended up quite long.

Bit by bit, evidence is leaking out connecting the members of that cabal at senior levels of the Department of Justice and the FBI with shadowy operatives in the private sector.

Wow! The 60 year old wife of disgraced DOJ Associate Deputy Attorney General Bruce Ohr was employed by Fusion GPS during the campaign

She was also a CIA research aide and applied for a HAM radio license a month after meeting MI6 Agent Steele.

That's one way to circumvent the NSA's wiretapping!

Nah, she just suddenly discovered an urgent passion for HAM radio.

"Last week U.S. District Court Judge Rudolph Contreras, the judge that appears to have granted Oct ’16 FISA request, is mysteriously recused *AFTER* accepting Mike Flynn plea in the first hearing. No explanation is given for the recusal or why Judge Contreras waited until after the initial plea hearing.

It would be EXPLOSIVE if it turned out the October 2016 FISA warrant was gained by deception, misleading/manipulated information, or fraud as a result of the Russian Dossier; and exponentially more explosive if the dossier was -in part- organized by the wife of an investigative member of the DOJ who was applying for the FISA warrant; the same warrant that led to the wiretapping and surveillance of the Trump campaign and General Flynn, and was authorized by FISA Court Judge Contreras."

"Follow the wives"... I'm so mad I didn't look closer at Ohr's wife last week but damn there's a lot of smoke here.

I spoke with some of my fact checkers re the HAM radio being a way to get around NSA collection. I was told that it wouldn't prevent NSA from capturing the SIGINT, but they'd have to know to look for it. HAM signals can be listened into by average folks with the equipment, so any communications between Steele and Ohr's wife on the HAM would have to be encoded or encrypted somehow (maybe she speaks Navajo?).

But yes, she's a CIA contractor (CIA v DIA, it's always been CIA v DIA). Yes, she directly worked with Steele on the Dossier. Yes, this is going to keep getting uglier. Wait for more names to break this week...

This was always a soft coup. It was always more than just Obama flunkies trying to hold onto power. This is a coup originating from within elements of the USIC who wished to hobble 45's ability to dictate his own foreign policy agendas (ie, no more regime change, perma war).

The would have gotten away with it too had it not been for one man being smart enough to set them all up: CIA, DOJ, FBI, FISA:

The last paragraph almost certainly happened. This is the only explanation for why the FISA judge overseeing Flynn's plea was removed that makes sense.

He clearly was the FISA judge who approved the surveillance using the dossier to do so. Most FISA warrants are "rubber stamps", this one more than most. Wray's testimony before congress last week really hinted at Strzok using the dossier to get the surveillance.

There's also unconfirmed reports (on websites not worth linking) of a video existing between senior FBI agents on Mueller's team talking about "wanting to get Flynn" back in October. Which, if it exists, would be night night for anyone still not seeing the forest through the trees on this issue.

Flynn's Leak Killers are real, operational, and kicking ass.

Coming Attractions: How the biggest political scandal in history will play out in 2018
By Thomas Lifson

A lot of frustration has been expressed – on these pages and elsewhere – over the slow pace of progress in unraveling the Deep State coup against Trump.  But, “the process of uncovering the worst political scandal in American history” as I called it a couple of days ago, needs to be done the right way, or else it will founder under the waves of abuse that will pour from the media and political branches of the establishment. Not only must legal niceties be observed, the rollout of information must be undertaken with a strategy in mind. Each step builds on the previous, and addresses the probable response.

When Rod Rosenstein evaded the answers being sought in a Congressional hearing and deferred to the Inspector General investigation underway, I thought it a reasonable response. Even though Rosenstein is now a hate-object for having appointed Robert Mueller as Special Counsel. The IG, Michael E. Horowitz, is no political stooge. (For background on the Inspectors General, see Ed Lasky here and here. There are unsung heroes of our constitutional republic among them, hero-federal bureaucrats.)

And letting any of the IG's cats out of the bag early could have serious consequences.

And now we know it's true what I've been saying for over two years: CIA was arming foreign Jihadists, ISIS, and AQ in Syria. Even the MSM is covering it, though they're ignoring the "plausible deniability" of how these programs operate. Two months is all it took to go from CIA to Jihadists' hands - which isn't an accident, it's a design.

The extensive report confirms what former MI6 spy and British diplomat Alastair Crooke once stated – that the CIA established the basis of a “jihadi Wal-Mart” of sorts – to which ISIS had immediate and easy access. Crooke noted that the weapons program was set up with “plausible deniability” in mind, which would allow its American intelligence sponsors to be shielded from any potential future legal prosecution or public embarrassment. Crooke noted in a 2015 BBC interview that, “The West does not actually hand the weapons to al-Qaida, let alone to ISIS…, but the system they’ve constructed leads precisely to that end.”

Oh, and look who was calling that program out as early as 2014... (this from early 2015 after being fired by 44 for talking about this)

3:30 being key... "a willful decision to (arm ISIS by 44)".

Are you starting to see? While we were fighting the war on terror, elements within the CIA were purposely arming, funding, and training the very same enemies who took down the towers in 2001 with the approval of the administration, the very same enemies who bombed concerts filled with children in London, the very same enemies who burn babies alive, behead captives, stone gay men and women, and burn others with acid. That same enemy was supplied, deliberately, by elements within our own CIA.

That's who the United States President decided to send millions of dollars of arms and munitions to in 2012 through the end of his second term

And the Pentagon was tired of it. Tired of losing men and women fighting a home grown enemy. Tired of fighting proxy forces whom they could never defeat because every time they slink away from the battlefield they're met and rearmed, resupplied, and refinanced by fellow American "patriots" working at a FOB right next door.

Russia gate has always been about CIA v DIA. It still is.

The gutting we're seeing in the congress, in CIA, in State, FBI, DOJ, MSM, and Hollywood is a revolution against these corrupt elements within the CIA, MiC, and Deep State.

This isn't conspiracy. It's no longer speculation. It's proven fact.

FBI appears to have investigated – and considered prosecuting – FOIA requesters:

Investigative reporting blog and FOIA tool provider Muckrock shows that as far back as 2016, the FBI refused to produce documents that had the names of deceased FBI staff (nullifying any privacy concerns), but consistently failed to redact personal information about the requesters — a clear violation of privacy:

“Despite redacting the names and email addresses of the public servants handling the case, the FBI released not only the author’s name and address in the file (technically improper since there was no waiver, albeit understandable) but the name, email address and home address of another requester who also used the script to file requests. Their name along with their email and physical addresses were left unredacted not once, not twice, not thrice – but seven times, not including the email headers, several of which also showed their name and email address.”

Other emails show that the FBI’s Obama-era FOIA office consulted a number of people from the Criminal Justice Information Services division for the purpose of singling out “suspicious” FOIA requests for possible prosecution targeting.

I’d love to know what they considered a “suspicious” FOIA request.
