It makes me happy that they didn't stop interviewing after Lynn. *Whew*.

Do you know if Lynn and Goodwin have any previous points of intersection where they both worked for the same guy at different times, or both worked together?

i don't think so. goodwin was with Steelers, colts and cardinals. Always with Arians.

I'd take Lynn over Goodwin. The current players like him, he knows the team, and the Bills offense was better than Arizona's last year. There is also the issue of what Goodwin's role was in AZ (was Arien's running the offense). Also, Goodwin has been surrounded by top-level QB play for most of his carrier. How will he handle the drop-off? That said, Goodwin could answer a lot of these questions during the interview.

I also don't see Lynn staying as OC after being the interim HC and being passed over for the HC job. He likely goes elsewhere.

I still want Toub as HC. My ideal HC has knowledge of all 3 facets of the game, which Toub has, and would let the OC and DC control their units.

Hes under contract so he can't leave unless it is for a HC job somewhere else. Or the new HC doesn't choose to retain him.

Have coaches interviewed for HC with a team and then accepted a lesser role? I hear a lot of people wanting to keep Lynn as OC, has this happened before? Interim coach - interview for HC - Back to OC/DC. Just curious.

Yes

2 years ago Greg Roman interviewed for the HC job then when Rex got it came in as OC

Similar but Roman wasn't already in place as the interim HC then going back down to a lesser role on the same team. I'm not saying it couldn't/shouldn't happen I just have a hunch that pride would get in the way for most people.

True...

I guess it all depends. If he doesn't get any HC gig he might take an OC gig, given that he's never been one before now. It's still a nice raise and a promotion.

I think it happened in Washington. Didn't Haslett interview post the Shanahans and then stay on as DC?

"BA (Bruce Arians) says it's better to say 'whoa' than to say 'sic 'em' -- if you have an attack dog let him attack."

It's better to have a player who's over-aggressive who you occasionally you have to restrain (say whoa)...

Then a player who's under-aggressive who you have to encourage to go sic 'em.

So far, I don't hate any of the candidates we're interviewing.

Lynn is under contract, if he doesn't get/take a HC job and we want him as OC how is he even interviewing for another coordinating position much less sure that he'd get one someplace else.

Not sure how he wouldn't be happy with a big step forward (no longer being interim OC).

True, but with the deadlines and pressure every week, if an assistant really wants to be elsewhere I would imagine most HC would let him go

It takes a bunch of guys who really want to be there and work together to make an NFL season work.
