BaaadThingsMan Posted January 11, 2017 Posted January 11, 2017 Ouch! @WillBrinson The only real red flag for Sean McDermott as possible Bills coach is that he's willing to take the Bills job. isn't this a chowdahead anyways? Who !@#$in cares what he thinks?
GunnerBill Posted January 11, 2017 Posted January 11, 2017 I thought he was the best candidate we interviewed. Like that he is a very experienced coordinator, like that he is a worker, like that he is not trying to make headlines. He was 2nd on my list of candidates last year after McDaniels and I think had Carolina not gone to the Superbowl he'd have got a HC job then. My one question - is he a natural leader? I hope so.
BADOLBILZ Posted January 11, 2017 Posted January 11, 2017 Like they had no chance of getting a candidate like McDermott. I am still fine with Lynn staying. Who didn't think they could get McDermott? He was lucky to get looks after some of the choke jobs by that D this past season and the arrogance they showed in cutting loose Josh Norman from his franchise tag because they said McDermott's system was what made Norman look good. McDermott could have easily become cold product and viewed as just a career DC if he didn't get this chance.
Doc Posted January 11, 2017 Posted January 11, 2017 @fbgameplan Both the #Bills & #Broncos got better today w/their HC hires Bills? Yes. Broncos? No.

He has had top 10 defenses in 4 of the last 5 years and has actually been to a super bowl in a recent time frame Comparatively speaking? RR didnt do either
mead107 Posted January 11, 2017 Posted January 11, 2017 I like the hire. Now we need to see who he brings with him.
zow2 Posted January 11, 2017 Posted January 11, 2017 Switched at birth - Sean McDermott & Ron Howard? I thought that as well. In a couple photos i said to myself, this guy looks like Richie Cunningham!
Billsguy Posted January 11, 2017 Posted January 11, 2017 I like McDermott...I've been in the Carolina's for the better part of the past 25 years...The Bills could do a lot worse... I like him better than Lynn at least... Well, unlike the hiring of Rex Ryan, I don't immediately disagree with the move. I knew instantly that Ryan would fail, but I will clearly reserve judgment on the new hire. My biggest concern will be the quality and experience of his coaching staff he hires. I hope he succeeds. p.s. Why do all these head coaching candidates get (a minimum) 5 year contracts? Pegula can piss away all the money he wants, but I would feel that a three year contract would be a better choice. I know why the candidate wants a long contract, but why would the owner bet on an unproven entity for five years?
HuSeYiN_NYC Posted January 11, 2017 Posted January 11, 2017 yes it has been 5 minutes so let the "toxic" reports of a divided FO begin! underrated confection Definitely underrated. Hopefully as good.
What a Tuel Posted January 11, 2017 Posted January 11, 2017 Bills? Yes. Broncos? No. Miami fans are actually happy that he is leaving. That's rough to hear if you are a bronco fan.
Doc Posted January 11, 2017 Posted January 11, 2017 Miami fans are actually happy that he is leaving. That's rough to hear if you are a bronco fan. Yeah, I heard that. And Kubiak won a Super Bowl. What has Joseph done?
YoloinOhio Posted January 11, 2017 Posted January 11, 2017 Miami fans are actually happy that he is leaving. That's rough to hear if you are a bronco fan. he was just the DBs coach in Cincy a year ago. Pretty quick ascension.
mob16151 Posted January 11, 2017 Posted January 11, 2017 (edited) So maybe Lynn to Washington ,as OC? Edited January 11, 2017 by mob16151
Mr. WEO Posted January 11, 2017 Posted January 11, 2017 Yeah, I heard that. And Kubiak won a Super Bowl. What has Joseph done? Elway accelerating his plan to bring the Broncos to oblivion.

Or the field were taking a more reasoned approach looking at his overall track record, realizing that a defense doesn't hinge on one player ( as if Norman led the Redskins to a playoff berth even with a very productive offense) and that the entire Panthers team imploded.
gordong Posted January 11, 2017 Posted January 11, 2017 What the over/under on how many times we hear "Buffalo Bills decision" at the press conference? 50? I'll take the over on that

BaaadThingsMan Posted January 11, 2017 Posted January 11, 2017 Yeah, I heard that. And Kubiak won a Super Bowl. What has Joseph done?i don't necessarily agree with Elway but he runs that organization with some brass balls and zero !@#$s about outside noise. Maybe the sound of those huge brass ones banging together has drowned it out?
Boatdrinks Posted January 11, 2017 Posted January 11, 2017 Well, unlike the hiring of Rex Ryan, I don't immediately disagree with the move. I know why the candidate wants a long contract, but why would the owner bet on an unproven entity for five years? Coaches want stability too. Why go somewhere that you could be shown the door in just two years (as most teams would have no problem eating one year of a deal) and possibly not get another look as a HC. It's so easy to change coaches- much easier than getting new players.
Buffalo Boy Posted January 11, 2017 Posted January 11, 2017 Local Charlotte sports radio 610am WFNZ : They are suggesting that this is akin to Hu Jackson taking the Browns job = mistake. They are throwing Whaley under the bus and asking if Whaley will even be there in a year.
