BuffaloHokie13 Posted January 11, 2017 Posted January 11, 2017 5 Years seems like two years too many for a 1st time HC. Are 5 year contracts the new norm? Seems crazy and unnecessary. Why not 3? Or is this the price the Bills pay for being the Bills? I wonder if they needed 5 as a sign of good faith after terminating Rex early?
The Wiz Posted January 11, 2017 Posted January 11, 2017 (edited) Brees as a replacement for TT would be Fuccillo!!! I wonder what the Bills will have to give up in return to make that happen. Also, the only WR on contract for 2017 is Watkins. Will the Bills resign Woods and/or Goodwin? Will they draft and/or acquire WR(s) via FA. Listenbee is also on contract. As is Dez. Coach Tuesday Posted January 11, 2017 Posted January 11, 2017 Ouch! @WillBrinson The only real red flag for Sean McDermott as possible Bills coach is that he's willing to take the Bills job. Pretty much how I've evaluated every woman who has ever agreed to date me...
YoloinOhio Posted January 11, 2017 Posted January 11, 2017 I like the replies though.people still use all the time against Hue Jackson wrt the Browns job. I wonder if they needed 5 as a sign of good faith after terminating Rex early? 4 or 5 is the norm. Chip Kelly got 5 last year.
Dan Posted January 11, 2017 Posted January 11, 2017 Are 5 year contracts the new norm? Seems crazy and unnecessary. Why not 3? Or is this the price the Bills pay for being the Bills? The ownership and Whaley have all said they want stability and they're willing to put ..their.. money where their mouth is to prove it. Having a coaching staff under contract doesn't seem to be a hinderance to the owners when making decisions. Why does it concern the fanbase so much? Bills fans are cheap!
26CornerBlitz Posted January 11, 2017 Author Posted January 11, 2017 @john_wawrow INCYMI earlier this morning; #Bills to interview McDermott again for coaching search https://t.co/lkJPGqH4Rx @AdamSchefter Panthers DC Sean McDermott, the leader for Bills job, now headed to Buffalo for 2nd HC interview with Bills, as @john_wawrow also reported.
nucci Posted January 11, 2017 Posted January 11, 2017 Because they should be in win now mode. Whaley getting at least 3 more years is crazy to me. He can still be fired at any time
Jerry Jabber Posted January 11, 2017 Posted January 11, 2017 Listenbee is also on contract. As is Dez. Forgot about those two. Thanks! Dez looks good in OTA's, but not in training camp and the regular season. Hopefully he can improve.
The Wiz Posted January 11, 2017 Posted January 11, 2017 Forgot about those two. Thanks! Dez looks good in OTA's, but not in training camp and the regular season. Hopefully he can improve. Agreed on Dez. Hopefully Listenbee can fill the other outside receiver role and we can get bobby back as the slot guy. I have no faith in Goodwin. Would take Hunter back over him.

26CornerBlitz Posted January 11, 2017 Author Posted January 11, 2017 @RapSheet If #Bills hire of Sean McDermott is done by today, as it should be, expect his biggest target for OC to be former #Chargers coach Mike McCoy
Buffalo_Stampede Posted January 11, 2017 Posted January 11, 2017 The way it is sounding the Bills are landing the #1 candidate on the market and the #1 OC candidate. This after a bad week of national press. That is why the Pegulas are the best owners in sports. Be happy to have them, still learning this business.

ricojes Posted January 11, 2017 Posted January 11, 2017 (edited) Yeah, I'd be okay if our WRs are Watkins, Rookie/FA, Hunter, Listenbee, Lewis/Rookie/FA You would be okay with this? Sammy goes down and Hunter is our #1? I don't see it. They need to bring in a FA and draft a WR as well, way too thin there. Edited January 11, 2017 by ricojes
Billschinatown Posted January 11, 2017 Posted January 11, 2017 Should I go over there and hide in the bushes again? As long as you don't blow my cover.
26CornerBlitz Posted January 11, 2017 Author Posted January 11, 2017 @RyanLasal I'm usually not a guy to get excited about coaching hires, but a trio of HC McDermott, DC Butler and OC McCoy would be big IMO

I'm for a high end FA target and a later pick at WR, or a high end draft pick and a lower tier FA. Both of those wants have ANDs, fwiw.

Pegula's get a bad wrap in the press, but they definitely do not scare away anyone like the media may makes it out to be. They are good people that are still learning the NFL, so glad to have them in Buffalo.
