YoloinOhio Posted January 2, 2017 Posted January 2, 2017 didn't he just say yesterday he was not going to have surgery?
26CornerBlitz Posted January 2, 2017 Posted January 2, 2017 Tim Graham @ByTimGraham 29s29 seconds ago I'm told Bills WR Sammy Watkins will have another foot surgery this week. That's a change from what he said postgame.
Reed83HOF Posted January 2, 2017 Author Posted January 2, 2017 didn't he just say yesterday he was not going to have surgery? LOL yup...
YoloinOhio Posted January 2, 2017 Posted January 2, 2017 I looked back at the quotes and he said he was "leaning toward" not having surgery and thought he was fine... but would have the standard physical today. Looks like Bills doctors felt otherwise?
26CornerBlitz Posted January 2, 2017 Posted January 2, 2017 @mikerodak Sammy Watkins says he is not anticipating having surgery this offseason, but he will have standard physical. So much for this if a surgery is upcoming.
snafu Posted January 2, 2017 Posted January 2, 2017 I looked back at the quotes and he said he was "leaning toward" not having surgery and thought he was fine... but would have the standard physical today. Looks like Bills doctors felt otherwise? Maybe while he was leaning he reinjured it to the point of requiring surgery?
Big C Posted January 2, 2017 Posted January 2, 2017 Well if he gets this last one knocked out and has plenty of time to rest up, no biggie.
sodbuster Posted January 2, 2017 Posted January 2, 2017 Maybe while he was leaning he reinjured it to the point of requiring surgery? Or maybe he was leaning on the other foot.
John from Riverside Posted January 2, 2017 Posted January 2, 2017 if surgery is needed and he gets it done immediately after the season....to me that is showing personal accountability. Give yourself time for a full recovery before next season.
YoloinOhio Posted January 2, 2017 Posted January 2, 2017 Maybe while he was leaning he reinjured it to the point of requiring surgery?
aristocrat Posted January 2, 2017 Posted January 2, 2017 now he can get fully healthy. practice with tyrod in the off season and those two light it up next year.
stevewin Posted January 2, 2017 Posted January 2, 2017 I looked back at the quotes and he said he was "leaning toward" not having surgery and thought he was fine... but would have the standard physical today. Looks like Bills doctors felt otherwise? When I saw that yesterday my first thought was why base the decision on a physical from the Bills medical staff ? Wouldn't the specialist(s) who treated the injury be the ones most qualified to make the proper assessment?
Marty McFly Posted January 2, 2017 Posted January 2, 2017 Well if he gets this last one knocked out and has plenty of time to rest up, no biggie. Exactly, at least their getting on it and letting him rest and be healthy for TC unlike last year.
Hapless Bills Fan Posted January 2, 2017 Posted January 2, 2017 I looked back at the quotes and he said he was "leaning toward" not having surgery and thought he was fine... but would have the standard physical today. Looks like Bills doctors felt otherwise? Sounds likely. Maybe they sent him off for more detailed study (CAT scan) and consulted and yeah, surgery indicated. When I saw that yesterday my first thought was why base the decision on a physical from the Bills medical staff ? Wouldn't the specialist(s) who treated the injury be the ones most qualified to make the proper assessment? A lot of the assessment would be based on tests such as a CAT scan. Bills docs could have ordered it, transmitted results to specialist, gotten input.
aristocrat Posted January 2, 2017 Posted January 2, 2017 I said it yesterday....thank god he didn't wait a few months and jeopardize off season stuff.
Best Player Available Posted January 2, 2017 Posted January 2, 2017 To whoever is doing it. Please get it right!
Big Turk Posted January 2, 2017 Posted January 2, 2017 What a waste of two draft picks. They said the same thing about Julio Jones in Atlanta I'm sure too after his first 3 seasons...haven't heard a peep about that recently have you? Jones: 174 catches, 2,737 yards, 20 TDs --- Matt Ryan attempting 1,832 passes over those 3 years Watkins: 153 catches, 2,459 yards, 17 TDs --- Tyrod Taylor and an assortment of other Bills QBs attempting 1,487 passes over those 3 years If we adjust Watkins stats simply for passes attempted, putting them on an even playing field(ie, the Bills throw the ball 350 more times), Watkins stats look like this: Watkins: 188 catches, 3,029 yards, 21 TDs Same foot injury, both needing 2 foot surgeries to come back from it...I'd say Watkins has put up FAR better numbers in his 3 years considering who he has had throwing him the ball and the lack of attempts... I think you might want to save that tired, wrong narrative for about 3 more years...Watkins is a stud when healthy, and hopefully this foot issue will be resolved just like Jones' was by a second surgery.
Nanker Posted January 2, 2017 Posted January 2, 2017 Shouldn't we hate Cleveland just that much more for banging Sammy up during that "scrimmage" his rookie year? I hate all other NFL franchises. Some more than others. Some much more than others.
