26CornerBlitz Posted January 10, 2017 Posted January 10, 2017 @AdamBenigni Told Lynn is still considered strong candidate for #Bills along with #Panters DC Sean McDermott who is interviewing with 49ers today. @wgrz @AdamBenigni Just told that #Bills interim coach Anthony Lynn has completed his interview with #Chargers. Confirmed it was a one day inteview. @wgrz
26CornerBlitz Posted January 10, 2017 Posted January 10, 2017 @AdamBenigni As reported yesterday, told interview with Kris Richard went well, but no indication where things stand with Richard or Goodwin. @wgrz
Wayne Arnold Posted January 10, 2017 Posted January 10, 2017  @AdamBenigni As reported yesterday, told interview with Kris Richard went well, but no indication where things stand with Richard or Goodwin. @wgrz   Which means it's between Richard and Goodwin.
Billschinatown Posted January 10, 2017 Posted January 10, 2017 Â Which means it's between Richard and Goodwin. We hope
FireChan Posted January 10, 2017 Posted January 10, 2017 If Dabo is smart, he will stay at Clemson. Being a college coach is a lot less stressful and time consuming (in my judgment) than being an NFL coach - particularly after having just won the national championship. He has built the program up to the point where it has and will be a lot easier to recruit players. He also has complete control of the program and does not have to deal with the reported and rumored issues that we have with the Bills. Â In the NFL, Dabo also would not have that huge reservoir of goodwill that he has at Clemson. As we have seen, NFL coaches are on a very short fuse. Also, as Nick Saban found, it is more difficult to win when you cannot dominate recruiting as some of these guys can. Â Dabo is now a living legend at Clemson who has built Clemson back up to national prominence and can make more money than he can spend in a lifetime. Â Go Canes. College coaching is way more of a full time job than NFL.
Bangarang Posted January 10, 2017 Posted January 10, 2017 We hope Goodwin is literally the worst case scenario for me
Marv's Neighbor Posted January 10, 2017 Posted January 10, 2017 Unfortunately, none of the "best fit"s want to come here.
Estelle Getty Posted January 10, 2017 Posted January 10, 2017 My bold prediction is at the last minute we will interview a BIG name coach and it will look like we are going to hire him. And then at the last second it will fall apart due to others around the league talking him out of it.
Wayne Arnold Posted January 10, 2017 Posted January 10, 2017 Goodwin is literally the worst case scenario for me  Why?  He's not my first choice because I'm hoping we can retain Lynn as OC and that may not happen if we bring in an offensive mind. But I like Goodwin's interviews and I like that he's basically been molded by Bruce Arians, one of my favorites.
zow2 Posted January 11, 2017 Posted January 11, 2017 just heard on ESPN that Lynn is spending a second day interviewing in San Diego (don't let him leave the building) . So I would say he is going there. If someone else hires Lynn, he will suddenly seem very attractive to Bills fans and lament the coach that got away.
D. L. Hot-Flamethrower Posted January 11, 2017 Posted January 11, 2017 FWIW Leroi is reporting they are negotiating with McDermott in Charlotte right now. McCoy as OC.
Johnny Hammersticks Posted January 11, 2017 Posted January 11, 2017 FWIW Leroi is reporting they are negotiating with McDermott in Charlotte right now. McCoy as OC. I can get on board with this.
D. L. Hot-Flamethrower Posted January 11, 2017 Posted January 11, 2017 I can get on board with this. Steve Wilks for DC if he can get out of Carolina
Wayne Arnold Posted January 11, 2017 Posted January 11, 2017 FWIW Leroi is reporting they are negotiating with McDermott in Charlotte right now. McCoy as OC. Â Who is Leroi and why should anyone trust what he says?
GunnerBill Posted January 11, 2017 Posted January 11, 2017 Â Who is Leroi and why should anyone trust what he says? Cos he broke Rex before the media guys 2 years ago.
Kirby Jackson Posted January 11, 2017 Posted January 11, 2017 Â Who is Leroi and why should anyone trust what he says? He broke Rex and Roman says before anyone else had picked up on it. Roman's name hadn't even been mentioned elsewhere. He's broken a bunch of other stuff here too. You can take it to the bank.
Saint Doug Posted January 11, 2017 Posted January 11, 2017 (edited) College coaching is way more of a full time job than NFL. This is very true. You are recruiting 365 days a year. Plus, many dog-and-pony shows to raise money from wealthy donors. Then you need to worry about kids doing stupid things under your watch and their grades. Basically, you are the coach/GM/father/teacher of the team. You don't have to worry about contracts though. Edited January 11, 2017 by Saint Doug
Kirby Jackson Posted January 11, 2017 Posted January 11, 2017 This is very true. You are recruiting 365 days a year. Plus, many dog-and-pony shows to raise money from wealthy donors. Then you need to worry about kids doing stupid things under your watch and their grades....and every fan thinks that their program is better than they are. With that being said your job is ALWAYS on the line. Charlie Strong was on the hot seat on his 1st day at Texas.
