YoloinOhio Posted January 2, 2017 Posted January 2, 2017 (edited) @tompelissero While Anthony Lynn has a good shot at #Bills job, they intend to conduct a search. One they've done homework on: #Seahawks DC Kris Richard. Edited January 8, 2017 by YoloinOhio
Buffalo Barbarian Posted January 2, 2017 Posted January 2, 2017 @tompelissero While Anthony Lynn has a good shot at #Bills job, they intend to conduct a search. One they've done homework on: #Seahawks DC Kris Richard. is he saying he is a candidate or that he should be a candidate?
YoloinOhio Posted January 2, 2017 Author Posted January 2, 2017 is he saying he is a candidate or that he should be a candidate? he said they have "done their homework" on him... meaning they are considering him for an interview.
Big Turk Posted January 2, 2017 Posted January 2, 2017 Their defense "slipped" this year...only finished 3rd in the NFL in points allowd instead of extending their streak of #1's to 4 seasons...
Southern Bills Fan Posted January 2, 2017 Posted January 2, 2017 YOLO, your the Ohio guy. What do you think about Tressel as a candidate? I always thought he might make a good NFL coach.
Hapless Bills Fan Posted January 2, 2017 Posted January 2, 2017 @tompelissero While Anthony Lynn has a good shot at #Bills job, they intend to conduct a search. One they've done homework on: #Seahawks DC Kris Richard. I like "has a good shot at" "intend to search" better than La Canfora and his "don't be fooled by anything you hear about a search, it's Lynns job" Kris Richard seems like an interesting guy. Only one season as DC and started with a great D, but at least he didn't ruin it. We could certainly use a "Legion of Boom" of our own to compete with Brady and the Pats.
BigBuff423 Posted January 2, 2017 Posted January 2, 2017 What is it with this team and Defensive Coordinators as Head Coaches?? Why isn't this team leaning towards coaches with an Offensive bent and who've shown the ability to develop QBs? I mean, if you're going to go with the out of the box scenario, why not Toub out of KC? One of the best Special Teams units in the NFL since he arrived in KC a few years ago.
YoloinOhio Posted January 2, 2017 Author Posted January 2, 2017 YOLO, your the Ohio guy. What do you think about Tressel as a candidate? I always thought he might make a good NFL coach.Love Tress but I think he would want more control than most GMs would be willing to give an unproven NFL coach. He had some conversations with the Browns the year they hired Pettine. His university president role seems to be treating him well ... though I often think he must still have the itch to coach.
thebandit27 Posted January 2, 2017 Posted January 2, 2017 I remember when Richard was a player, and I like him as a coordinator. Maybe some teams think he's another Tomlin-type, but those guys are VERY hit-or-miss IMO
BigBuff423 Posted January 2, 2017 Posted January 2, 2017 And again: https://twitter.com/rapsheet/status/816009034021085184 Dear God....all these DC interviews but Bevell & Shanahan remain unlinked to Bills.
Wayne Arnold Posted January 5, 2017 Posted January 5, 2017 (edited) Alex MarvezVerified account@alexmarvez As @TomPelissero 1st reported, @buffalobills have interest interviewing @Seahawks DC Kris Richard 4 HC vacancy. Can't yet w SEA in playoffs Edited January 5, 2017 by Wayne Arnold
Jamie Nails Posted January 5, 2017 Posted January 5, 2017 Will be really interesting to see how long they wait- if they do- for some of these playoff coordinators.
Wayne Arnold Posted January 5, 2017 Posted January 5, 2017 Kris Richard is a 37 year old. I prefer him over McDermott personally due to his energy and demeanor. But who knows. Career history As player: Seattle Seahawks (2002–2004) Miami Dolphins (2005) San Francisco 49ers (2005–2006) As coach: Southern California (2008–2009) Graduate assistant Seattle Seahawks (2010) Assistant defensive backs coach Seattle Seahawks (2011) Cornerbacks coach Seattle Seahawks (2012–2014) Defensive backs coach Seattle Seahawks (2015–present) Defensive coordinator https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xRFXlvatSoM
thebandit27 Posted January 5, 2017 Posted January 5, 2017 Imagine Richard as HC, Bradley as DC, and Lynn stays as OC...
YoloinOhio Posted January 5, 2017 Author Posted January 5, 2017 Impossible because they are ending their fake search per Vic
26CornerBlitz Posted January 5, 2017 Posted January 5, 2017 If the Bills hire Richard, I would bet anything that the number of missed tackles is reduced significantly.
GunnerBill Posted January 5, 2017 Posted January 5, 2017 There is a definite theme.... Whaley wants a guy who runs a 4-3.
Buffalo Barbarian Posted January 6, 2017 Posted January 6, 2017 There is a definite theme.... Whaley wants a guy who runs a 4-3. or guys that wont threaten his job security.
GunnerBill Posted January 6, 2017 Posted January 6, 2017 or guys that wont threaten his job security. I don't know who people think is out there who would beyond maybe Coughlin? There are no big fish Head Coaches on the market. I think the Bills are going to hire a defensive mind who has experience running a successful 4-3 defense or they will hire Lynn and require him to bring a 4-3 coordinator with him. Whaley will then live and die as a GM by whether that works. But give me this rather than the haphazard shambles that was the last coaching search.
Doc Posted January 6, 2017 Posted January 6, 2017 There is a definite theme.... Whaley wants a guy who runs a 4-3. Yup.
