26CornerBlitz Posted January 2, 2017 Posted January 2, 2017 @WGR550 Whaley - we can't confirm the numerous reports are coming from our building. We're going to look into it and try to shut it down #Bills
Fadingpain Posted January 2, 2017 Posted January 2, 2017 Ask him why the Pegs are in Florida letting him squirm. That was like the first question asked, by Jerry Sullivan.
Dirtbag Posted January 2, 2017 Posted January 2, 2017 It seems silly, but why would he say it if it wasn't true? Why pretend he as GM wasn't involved? so he can claim ignorance about it, which is what he's doing.
26CornerBlitz Posted January 2, 2017 Posted January 2, 2017 @ChrisBrownBills Whaley- new HC will take part in making decision on Tyrod as QB of the team. New staff will evaluate roster. #Bills
John from Riverside Posted January 2, 2017 Posted January 2, 2017 Whaley pretending that he had no input on Rex's firing is downright ridiculous. actually I am not sure that he said that.....I thought whaley worded that very carefully
FireChan Posted January 2, 2017 Posted January 2, 2017 It seems silly, but why would he say it if it wasn't true? Why pretend he as GM wasn't involved? To distance himself from the mistake. If he advised the fire, he probably advised the hire. Blame the owners and come out scot free. I don't think he's pretending that, do you? Dodging, sure. He said Rex asked to talk to the Pegulas in private when the decision was made. He didn't say he had no input, just that he wasn't privy to the specifics of the conversation between Pegs and Rex. (unless I heard it wrong) (nevermind... I'm behind in the conference...) He just said flat out no. LIES!
26CornerBlitz Posted January 2, 2017 Posted January 2, 2017 @MatthewFairburn Doug Whaley claims he doesn't know why Rex Ryan got fired when he did. He did not have input on whether Rex should be fired.
Peter Posted January 2, 2017 Posted January 2, 2017 He said he had nothing to do with it. And why would he, according to the structure Rex reported directly to Pegula. Pegula would have to do the firing. You really believe that he was not throwing Rex under the bus before the decision was made? He is just saying that "he was not privy to that conversation" - that does not answer the question about his involvement. He is parsing words in the tradition of Bill Clinton. Update: He just said he did not have input. I do not believe that at all.
26CornerBlitz Posted January 2, 2017 Posted January 2, 2017 @SalSports Doug Whaley give a "NO" she asked if he had input into Rex Ryan being fired.
jahnyc Posted January 2, 2017 Posted January 2, 2017 Can't watch the press conference anymore. Feels like amateur hour with both Whaley and the reporters and their questions. Pretty brutal and I feel a bit sorry for Whaley, who seems in over his head.
Wayne Cubed Posted January 2, 2017 Posted January 2, 2017 actually I am not sure that he said that.....I thought whaley worded that very carefully No, he turned to Sully and flatly said "no" he didn't have input.
26CornerBlitz Posted January 2, 2017 Posted January 2, 2017 @buffalobills Whaley says he did not have input in firing Rex Ryan. Pegulas' decision. "I was told by my boss that I will no longer be working with Rex."
Wayne Cubed Posted January 2, 2017 Posted January 2, 2017 You really believe that he was not throwing Rex under the bus before the decision was made? He is just saying that "he was not privy to that conversation" - that does not answer the question about his involvement. He is parsing words in the tradition of Bill Clinton. Update: He just said he did not have input. I do not believe that at all. Of course you don't, why would you?
FireChan Posted January 2, 2017 Posted January 2, 2017 No, he turned to Sully and flatly said "no" he didn't have input. FUMIGATE. Fire this snake.
Deranged Rhino Posted January 2, 2017 Posted January 2, 2017 He just said flat out no. LIES! I was behind...
Reed83HOF Posted January 2, 2017 Posted January 2, 2017 Richard Deitsch Verified account @richarddeitsch The Bills are an epic management disaster and as a former Buffalonian and one who cares about the city, I'm bummed for the people there.
Coach Tuesday Posted January 2, 2017 Posted January 2, 2017 (edited) @MatthewFairburn Doug Whaley claims he doesn't know why Rex Ryan got fired when he did. He did not have input on whether Rex should be fired. Only the Bills could pull off such a stupid press conference after weeks of media pressure. This is freaking hilarious (and sad). They had days to prepare, and this! Edited January 2, 2017 by Coach Tuesday
26CornerBlitz Posted January 2, 2017 Posted January 2, 2017 @SalSports Rex reported to owner, not Whaley. Whaley says next head coach and that structure of reporting will be determined in interview process.
mannc Posted January 2, 2017 Posted January 2, 2017 To distance himself from the mistake. If he advised the fire, he probably advised the hire. Blame the owners and come out scot free. ! Throwing the owners under the bus seems like a poor survival strategy.
26CornerBlitz Posted January 2, 2017 Posted January 2, 2017 @MatthewFairburn Doug Whaley said he didn't feel the need to speak after ownership issued a statement on Rex Ryan's firing.
