BADOLBILZ Posted January 1, 2017 Posted January 1, 2017 I read them and I agree. I weigh that against Tyrod's deficiencies and real QB is still a better option, IMO. Groy and Wood were almost interchangeable though, fair point. He is NOT good enough to make a SB run. TT will back us into the postseason at best, and then get boa constricted by the first real defense that actually schemes against him. It will be an agonizing death that we will die over 3 and 1/2 Q's. Do you remember the beat down the Bills put on that playoff bound Tebow-lead Broncos squad? The Pats toyed with the Broncos in the playoffs and that looked like a situation that was going nowhere. But they were a playoff team going in the right direction.......so Manning chose them from a group of so-so choices and turned them into a title contender. You can build off of being a playoff team......and the Broncos have subsequently proven that it's easier to build a roster when you are getting production at QB.
Wayne Arnold Posted January 1, 2017 Posted January 1, 2017 Cardale was awesome. Offense finally started driving. Progressions, anticipating routes, standing in pocket, getting first downs. That quarter was the best QB play from the Bills this year. This team has 10-11 wins with Orton this season. What are you talking about? Orton couldn't win 9 legitimate games with the second best defense in the NFL on his side. Good Lord.

So make the playoffs with TT then dump him in 2018 or 2019 for Brees/Rivers/??? is your plan?
TANK2 Posted January 1, 2017 Posted January 1, 2017 Again, we don't live in the comparative. The fact that EJ is awful and Cardale is far to raw do not improve Tyrod. He still isn't good enough. Time to move on. Ok. So dont be like all the other people in the world who love to say that wont work. Tell us what the solution is. Cut Tyrod and.....?
Kirby Jackson Posted January 1, 2017 Posted January 1, 2017 It really is amazing how much time we spend talking about "fixing" the 7th highest scoring offense compared to the time that we spend talking about fixing the garbage defense. It's kind of weird.
BADOLBILZ Posted January 1, 2017 Posted January 1, 2017 So make the playoffs with TT then dump him in 2018 or 2019 for Brees/Rivers/??? is your plan? No the point is when you stink you don't have that option. That Bills roster was actually superior to those Broncos........but the Bills were NOT EVEN AN OPTION......because they were not on the right path. Romo IS NOT happening. The Bills are NOT on the right path for Romo or Rivers. The defense stinks and their OL would get them killed. Perception is reality. The defense needs to be re-built. The team needs to be winning. My plan is to keep looking for a QB WHILE you are winning. Whether it's a young player or an old franchise type.
FireChan Posted January 1, 2017 Posted January 1, 2017 What are you talking about? Orton couldn't win 9 legitimate games with the second best defense in the NFL on his side. Good Lord. Orton would've absolutely won 10+ in 2014 if EJ didn't dig him into a hole to start the year.
nedboy7 Posted January 1, 2017 Posted January 1, 2017 Great. All last season we needed Mario's replacement, RT, Kyle's replacement, 2 safeties, another TE and WR. Did we get them? What happens the year after when Wood rand Incognito retires? Shove two new rookies there at best? We're getting worse. It's undeniable. No you shove a rookie QB in. Somehow that one will work.

It's kind of weird. Because we all know the defense is a simple scheme switch. Getting a QB has still been this teams main problem for years, and a high scoring offense doesn't mean it's not. Somehow that one will work. Ah yes, the rookie Tony Romo. Wait, are we back in 2004? I need to buy Amazon stock.
Rico Posted January 1, 2017 Posted January 1, 2017 Jerry Jones is not trading one of his favorite players to a place he regards as the equivalent of Siberia. There is a ZERO percent chance Romo is on the Bills next year. Exactly, that's just not happening.
Wayne Arnold Posted January 1, 2017 Posted January 1, 2017 Orton would've absolutely won 10+ in 2014 if EJ didn't dig him into a hole to start the year. They were 2-2 when Orton took over. Orton went 6-5 before playing the Patriots backups in Week 17. Wow what a difference!
BADOLBILZ Posted January 1, 2017 Posted January 1, 2017 Orton would've absolutely won 10+ in 2014 if EJ didn't dig him into a hole to start the year. Right....and that D was 15-20 spots better. Younger, deeper, better and A LOT healthier. Like it or not.......this 2016 D, adjusted for quality of opponent.......was probably the 25th-27th in the league.
FireChan Posted January 1, 2017 Posted January 1, 2017 They were 2-2 when Orton took over. Orton went 6-5 before playing the Patriots backups in Week 17. Wow what a difference! 2-2 dropping 2 easy wins with that defense. With Orton, we probably open 4-0. Right....and that D was 15-20 spots better. Younger, deeper, better and A LOT healthier. Like it or not.......this 2016 D, adjusted for quality of opponent.......was probably the 25th-27th in the league. Like I said, decline. We can easily stop the bleeding but guys like Hughes and Kyle aren't gonna still be on the roster if we return to a top 4 defense barring a miracle.
Wayne Arnold Posted January 1, 2017 Posted January 1, 2017 2-2 dropping 2 easy wins with that defense. With Orton, we probably open 4-0. Maybe, maybe not. All I know is that whoever said the 2016 team wins 10-11 games with Kyle Orton at quarterback is certifiably insane.
Kirby Jackson Posted January 2, 2017 Posted January 2, 2017 a high scoring offense doesn't mean it's not. This is confusing to me. The fact that the offense scores a lot (7th highest in the league) doesn't suggest that what they are doing is working?

We can easily stop the bleeding but guys like Hughes and Kyle aren't gonna still be on the roster if we return to a top 4 defense barring a miracle. If you bring in a ++DC like Wade Phillips maybe you get back in the top 5 range. But more likely the goal should be to get back between 10-15. I don't like to assume automatic conclusions but combine that with a top 10 scoring offense and a mid-league ST's and you are very likely a playoff team. This offense is NOT on the decline with Tyrod. Tyrod isn't franchise but the combination of running ability and the on-point deep ball is not entirely defensible. That is what makes this offense work.
FireChan Posted January 2, 2017 Posted January 2, 2017 This is confusing to me. The fact that the offense scores a lot (7th highest in the league) doesn't suggest that what they are doing is working? What's their record against teams with winning records? No.
TANK2 Posted January 2, 2017 Posted January 2, 2017 (edited) Because we all know the defense is a simple scheme switch. Is it really a simple scheme switch? An interested Mario Williams is gone. No Gilmore next year. No Aaron Williams next year. You sure about that? Would also love to know who we are replacing Tyrod with. All the anti tyrod people seem to think they have hall of fame qbs on sale for 39.99 at walmart. We havent been able to find a good qb over the past 17 years but suddenly the hall of famers are on sale at your local retailer because they are looking to slash prices due to an inventory glut. Augie Posted January 2, 2017 Posted January 2, 2017 What's their record against teams with winning records? No. Every schedule includes good teams and bad. It's an average. But that may not fit all agendas.
Wayne Cubed Posted January 2, 2017 Posted January 2, 2017 What's their record against teams with winning records? No. It's not that simple though. They were winning in games in the second half against Miami(x2) and Oakland. The Bills defense let huge 1st half scores against Pitt and Seattle. They nearly came back and won in Seattle.
