Pine Barrens Mafia
The past 2 years of the playoffs proved who the top2 teams were. Its beginning to look like college footbal should have stayed with the the BCS format. So adding even more crappier teams into the mix is going to make it less underwhelming? Point is they didn't take the best

atlbillsfan1975
What happens is northern teams are built to play in bad weather and the south has home field advantage in the championship games. Bills went through it drafting Roscoe, McGahee from the U and they fell apart. What they need is a 64 team playoff. Top 4 get a pass, everyone else starts off in overtime rules. Rose Bowl, Orange Bowl, Big House and Yankee Stadium are the venues on New Years Day. It won't work because college administrators are senile corrupt monsters. This is a different view for sure. I think it has to do with the emphasis placed onhigh school football in the south. Weather can play a role in any game. i don't think it is entirely unrealistic to think a Big 10 school would have a better chance of winning in the snow. I do think if you look on a lot winning college programs you will find a majority of players from the south and California.
KD in CA
No. There were better teams left out. Adding more teams isn't going to fix crap like OSU getting a playoff slot over their conference champ who beat them. PSU fans have a right to be pissed. The system is still rigged. IMO Washington put up a pretty good fight; their defense was fantastic. If they can stop Bama on that 3d and 9 from Bama's 2 yard line the game is still in doubt in the fourth quarter. Point is they didn't take the best 4 The problem is they are still trying to take the 'best' 4 rather than the most deserving 4. Conference championships should mean something. Cynical
What happens is northern teams are built to play in bad weather and the south has home field advantage in the championship games. Bills went through it drafting Roscoe, McGahee from the U and they fell apart. A lot of players that grew up and played HS and college ball in the south went on to have great careers on northern teams in the NFL. Why didn't they "fall apart"? Maybe the reason southern states dominate college football has more to do with the southern states are the hotbeds of HS football talent, more so than any other region in the country. As for Roscoe and McGahee, please. Roscoe was an undersized WR, and wasn't physical. McGahee had self motivational issues. When he felt he had something to prove, he would put in the time and effort. Once he reached that goal, he stopped. What they need is a 64 team playoff. Top 4 get a pass, everyone else starts off in overtime rules. Rose Bowl, Orange Bowl, Big House and Yankee Stadium are the venues on New Years Day. It won't work because college administrators are senile corrupt monsters. It will not work because its a stupid idea. It has nothing to do with college admins.

DrDawkinstein
No need for more than 4 teams. 6 tops, might be ok. The good news is we're at least arguing over who is #4 vs #5 instead of the old days of people arguing who was #1! But the more teams you add simply pushes the argument down. Next people will start threads complaining about #6 vs #7 Even if it isn't perfect (and it will be nearly impossible to have a perfect system with the number of teams), it looks like we got the 2 best teams in the Championship, and there will be a clear cut winner. I dont think any other team that could've gotten in (PSU, Mich, Ok) would have done any better against Bama and Clemson.
Big Turk
My only regret is that I didn't tape that Ohio State game so I could rewatch over and over and revel in their pummeling....
