26CornerBlitz Posted December 29, 2016 Posted December 29, 2016 He did? I don't think that being fired after less than two years after being the most successful Bills coach in the past 17 years notwithstanding the depth of injuries and bottom half QB etc. as getting a fair shot or everything he would have wanted or should have expected. I do not think undermining the HC with ownership and with the media as getting everything he would have wanted. These are my opinions. Based on what I have read and heard, it is my opinion that the GM threw the HC under the bus to protect himself. I guess Rex must have stopped completing his sentences. I respect both of you guys a TON. We just disagree on this. I have no problem with a professional coach being confident. Hell, they need to be that way to inspire their players. I also think that a coach deserves a fair evaluation under the circumstances and also deserves not to be undermined by the GM. We just disagree. I do not think that Rex had a fair amount of time or was fairly evaluated based on the injuries etc. I also believe that Rex was undermined for the reasons I have stated. Just my two cents. What is Rex Ryan's purported area of expertise and did he excel in said area? By any objective measure he failed.
BADOLBILZ Posted December 29, 2016 Posted December 29, 2016 He literally does have cut/paste articles that he just plucks whenever he wants to be snarky. That's why I stopped reading TBN years ago--just zero thought-provoking content. The reason for that is that the Bills perform at a 6-8 win cut and paste level nearly every season. I honestly don't know what people expect after 17 years without a season with even the MINIMUM standard of success. He's negative.......the Bills are deserving of scorn.......water is wet................nothing to see here....... move along citizens.
Peter Posted December 29, 2016 Posted December 29, 2016 (edited) He writes all that off. Because Doug didnt massage Rexs feet They also would have gave him the final game if he would have Sat Taylor in this meaningless game. He wouldnt so. Fired 6 days earlier How many times have I heard St. Doug Whaley say: I am in charge of the 53 and Rex is in charge of the 46? Rex did not insert that stupid injury clause in TT's contract. Doug can look in the mirror to find out who was responsible for that one. Don't buy into all this media baloney! This team and organization is alot closer to success, and not nearly as bad, as they are being portrayed. It was not short-sighted, what in the big picture were you looking for by keeping him. Winning over the media? I think Rex is a good coach. You and I disagree. If you are going to hire a coach, you need to give the guy more than less than two years especially under the circumstances that I have mentioned. One thing you should realize about me (if you have read my posts in the past is that I have no special fondness for TBN or most of the Buffalo media. I do think that what happened here does make the organization that i love look stuuuuuuupiiiiiiid. I really fear (as I have said before) that we are not going to be able to attract and in demand desirable candidate unless we overpay and make some big time assurances that the HC is not going to be thrown under the bus after less than two years. It is more likely that we are going to hire someone who is beholden to Whaley or desperate to get a HC job. The Pegulas better be prepared to pay A LOT of $$$$ and do whatever they can to assure the next hire that he is going to get a fair amount of time and that rumors of his firing are not going to be leaked and reported minutes before a huge game etc. . . . Peter Posted December 29, 2016 Posted December 29, 2016 What is Rex Ryan's purported area of expertise and did he excel in said area? By any objective measure he failed. His expertise was being the most successful Bills coach in the past 17 seasons even though: He had a bottom half QB at best The following players missed substantial time over the past two years (Sammy, Marcell, Kyle, Aaron, Aaron's back up, Aaron's back up's back up, Harvin, Shady, Wood, Woods, Cordy, Darby, Gilmore, Ragland, Lawson . . .) Leaks to the media stating that he was going to be fired or was on the hot seat. How does that play with a team? What about the leaks that were reported minutes before the Pittsburgh game started. I think that the guy did pretty damn well. Just my two cents. What? Clearly a typo or I am in the State of Washington or Colorado.
reddogblitz Posted December 29, 2016 Posted December 29, 2016 Rex's job was to win. He did it better than anyone since Wade. He had issues, but I agree with Peter. He should have gotten 1 more year. It makes us look stupid and will affect our ability to hire a real coach and attract new talent in the off season. That said, i hope it works. Go BILLS !!

Webster Guy Posted December 29, 2016 Posted December 29, 2016 Nah. No need to pull punches; he's a hack because his writing is uncreative and does nothing to bring any further knowledge to the reader. Many columnists are pot-stirrers, but the good ones actually add perspective and are capable of teaching something to the reader. That's not Sully...at all. Well said. I think the one thing that has saved Sully's job in recent years is that most of the articles today are read online, and therefore can be tracked by clicks. And the sad truth is that negative headlines draw far greater clicks and views, which loosely translates to better advertising revenues. So despite his lack of quality writing, guys like Sully can still eek out a living by hacking their way through their jobs. The ones that suffer most are those of us who aren't negative and know the team as well as he does. Most fans aren't as dialed in as the readers of this board so they can't see Sully for what he really is.
Hapless Bills Fan Posted December 29, 2016 Posted December 29, 2016 How many times have I heard St. Doug Whaley say: I am in charge of the 53 and Rex is in charge of the 46? Rex did not insert that stupid injury clause in TT's contract. Doug can look in the mirror to find out who was responsible for that one. Can't actually. Whaley doesn't write contracts nor have supervisory power or fate control over the people who do. Point is, the contract exists, what potential impact does it have on the organization relative to the importance of a game after we're out of contention? Just as the GM needs to consider the coach's needs when drafting and building the 53 man roster, so the coach has to consider the business and organizational aspects of roster decisions for a meaningless game.
TC in St. Louis Posted December 29, 2016 Posted December 29, 2016 You know what's hard in life? Being a blue collar person getting laid off and having to get in line for unemployment. Facing huge challenges in life. Know what's not? Facing the Buffalo media. This guy might end up being the Bills coach....maybe he's a natural leader. Maybe by default he will rise above the BS. He walked out and stood his ground today. Then he went back to work. If they hire him, I will root for him.

If he did not approve this clause, he either is not the GM or we have bigger problems than I thought.
Hardcore Bills Fan Posted December 29, 2016 Posted December 29, 2016 The Bills and Sabres sucking is like porn to Bucky and Sully
Peter Posted December 29, 2016 Posted December 29, 2016 The Bills and Sabres sucking is like porn to Bucky and Sully I think you just won the internet today and it is just 12:33 a.m.
BADOLBILZ Posted December 29, 2016 Posted December 29, 2016 The Bills and Sabres sucking is like porn to Bucky and Sully I think the Bills and Sabres are more like TPS reports to them.......mundane, repetitive, boring things they have to do that make their job pretty unfulfilling. The plus side is they have each other to hang out and drink with. The losing polarizes them around a common enemy.....Terry Pegula Sports (reports).

The plus side is they have each other to hang out and drink with. The losing polarizes them around a common enemy.....Terry Pegula Sports (reports). They have a job that most of us would love. Many on this board spend more time and are more thoughtful in their posts than they are in what they get paid to do. I do not feel sorry for them. If they do not like being Buffalo sports reporters, they should get a job with the New York Times or even Bleacher Report (like Ty Dunne) . . . oh wait, who am I kidding. No one better than TBN is hiring them and they are not going anywhere.
Buffalo Barbarian Posted December 29, 2016 Posted December 29, 2016 Amen. Until then, more Sully! "Brandon and Whaley somehow come out of this with their jobs intact and their power largely undiminished. At the risk of insulting a departed Hall of Famer, they're carrying on the dysfunctional legacy of the previous owner. This franchise remains an extension of Ralph Wilson." I suspect this will turn out like Darcy and Lindy in the end and we will finely get what has been needed all along and that is a clean house.
Manther Posted December 29, 2016 Posted December 29, 2016 Hey look MORE PURE CLASS from TBN Tim Graham (@ByTimGraham) 12/28/16, 9:10 PM Not even 2016 can kill Doug Whaley. Right, hmmmm, too much, too personal.
Billznut Posted December 29, 2016 Posted December 29, 2016 I suspect this will turn out like Darcy and Lindy in the end and we will finely get what has been needed all along and that is a clean house. Yeah but when? I'm guessing another two wasted years around here.
Billsman623 Posted December 29, 2016 Posted December 29, 2016 Too bad Lynn didn't walk down and throat punch Sullivan. What a coward and needling prick he is.
