What the hell is a "football czar"? Is he a guy whispering in the owner's ear with criticism of the GM or HC? Does he have final say on drafts, FAs, coaches, game day personnel, play calling? If so, then he sounds like a hybrid owner/GM/HC so why not just replace all of those people with the "czar"? The owner can check in every few years and see how much his investment has appreciated. And if he''s not doing those things, then why have him in the first place? Sounds more like a position that exists because an owner doesn't trust his staff. It is just another level of bureaucracy that makes everything more confused.

He is the leader who either operates as GM or picks his own and the organization structure stems from him. He is a man the Pegulas trust. And one that they can stay the hell away from any and all decisions.

The Czar thing is ridiculous. The job of a GM is to deal with football operations. All of it. If you don't like the GM, find a new one, but don't add another friggin cog to the machine for absolutely no purpose.

The Pegula's better find the guy they trust to run their football team and let him do his damn job. If that's Whaley, fine. Let him go and hold him responsible for all of the choices he makes. If not, move on and hire someone you trust to get this thing done.

#4: The Pegulas are bad owners.

These guys have made poor decision after poor decision and it has really cost us greatly. Starting out with forcing out Marrone, a coach that had a power struggle with Whaley, and then setting up the exact same power struggle to happen again. No czar, no unilateral direction. Hiring Rex, a buffoon, either forcing Whaley to go along with a choice he wouldn't have made or getting conned by Whaley who threw his own bad decision under the bus to save his own skin. The Rex hire guaranteeing our great defense would change schemes. Is there any doubt, today of all days, we'd all be better off with another year or 2 of Marrone+Schwartz? The Pegulas walked in playing hardball and pissed away $30M and look like laughing stocks. There's still time to turn it around, but they need to rip out the rot.

I will never understand why people constantly complain about ownership.

It got old when people whined about Ralph Wilson. And it is already old when people whine about the Pegulas.

They saved the team for Buffalo. They have zero experience in the NFL - Nor have they ever claimed to be NFL geniuses.

Give them a friggen break. Wouldja?

And you can't change it anyway. Nobody can change the fact that they own the team. So why are you focusing any of your energy and frustration on something nobody has any power to change?

At least the other things are changeable. You are going to be miserable forever if you hate the Pegulas. And you deserve to be miserable if you do.

Unprovable.

Just because your boss puts food on the table for you because he writes your checks doesn't mean he's above criticism. If you want to pretend the ownership is perfect, you're gonna be mighty disappointed. Do you think Terry got to where he is without valuing constructive criticism? I doubt it.

Just because Sammy is a great player doesn't mean he never screws up, nor does it make anyone wrong to say he screwed up. Keep your thought policing to yourself.

If it is okay for you to post your opinion publicly on this forum - Why is it not okay for me to post mine?

When your opinion is "don't post things I don't like!" it changes.

You can believe they are great and perfect and I can believe otherwise.

I think it is gonna take more time before we can assume they are "bad" owners

I would say at this point they are inexperienced

I haven't decided one way or the other but inexperienced sounds like a euphemism for bad now but hopefully won't be later...

With JfH, you and I both know "hopefully" means "probably."

'inexperienced' is not an valid excuse to me.

I thought they got experience with mistakes made when they took over the Sabres. They proceeded to repeat nearly identical mistakes here. The Sabres still have organizational problems.

so we are already assigning bad draft picks to the ousted Rex Ryan...

First of all it's a little to early to determine where the Lawson pick will fall, but I think most people are under the impression Lawson was a guy Rex wanted.

We have a football czar. he is the general manager Doug Whaley. IMHO, he has made the following mistakes:

1.Ceding too much draft control to Rex. I.e. he kept taking Clemson guys. Terrible crime to try to work with your coach. Didn't work out. Jury still out on the Ragland pick, but it did cost us a shot at Prescott.

2. Overpaying to keep certain guys (happy). McCoy, Taylor and Dareus all come under this category.

3. Not finding us a good QB. Not sure if it was him or Nix but EJ was a bad pick in a weak QB draft. Cardale was a bad pick period. Tyrod was the best QB we've seen around here in a while but definitely NOT the answer. So the search begins anew.

He is NOT responsible for the Rex hiring. he was supposedly for Hue Jackson. So he has never picked the Bills coach. Marrone not him either but marrone wasn't a bad coach. He was just an !@#$. The GM should be at the top of the football operation. Whaley has had to share power. On the way, he and Nix upgraded the scouting dep'tmt and gave us one of the top pro personnel dep'tmts. I really feel like we are the right coach and QB from being in contention.

Agree with most of your post. Still on the fence with Tyrod. He doesn't throw for 300 yards as the media seem to feel is a pre-requisite for a QB, but I do not. He doesn't turn the ball over and puts points on the board. To me that is the most important thing because they still determine the winner as the team that scored the most points not threw for the most yards. The EJ pick was a desperation move in a poor QB class, regardless of who was responsible for it created by Nix not drafting a QB years earlier. I think in another system you may look at Dareus and say what a bargain or he may toke his way out of the league, unless the NFL gets in touch with reality and drastically changes their testing practices with regard to pot. Also on the fence with the Tyrod contract. If he remains the starter and continues to develop he will be playing for peanuts in comparison to his peers, and if they void the rest of the deal he was clearly a bargain this year. Just my two cents.

His assumption? Almost surely. But it still reads like currently bad which makes his dislike of fans criticizing them an interesting dynamic

Dave, don't you realize that is what the majority of the fan base and media do here is whine and point fingers. I loved one post that called them amateur owners. Where do you go to become professional owners???? LOL Like you I appreciate what they have done for the sports in this area.

Especially a cog to the wheel, who is currently retired and was fired from their last position(Coughlin, Polian, etc).

Yep. That's what we do bro.

Just think it is a waste to whine about things that can't be changed. Like if you were born too short or too tall. What the hell good is it to whine about it? And wouldn't everyone get sick of listening to you whine about it? I would.

It is insane to sit around and whine about things that NOBODY can change. Nobody but Pegulas can change the ownership of the team. So what good does it do to whine about them as owners? Answer = none.

We can't change coaches, GM's or players either.
