run dat back Posted December 27, 2016 Posted December 27, 2016 Buffalo Bills @buffalobills now9 seconds ago Rex Ryan has been relieved of his duties as head coach. Anthony Lynn will serve as interim head coach. This Christmas just keeps on giving. Both of the Ryans needed to go, but the GM needs to follow them out of the door.
zonabb Posted December 27, 2016 Posted December 27, 2016 Letting Whaley lead the search is troublesome. Guy is an admitted scout junkie and I suggest limited in his skills and experience to properly select a coach. Again, hire a president of football ops to oversee the personnel staff and coaching staff. The idea you continue to have two "departments" overseen by an billionaire sports fan is just laughable. A hands on experienced owner who's been around the sport for life is capable of managing these staffs, Pegulas are not. And Whaley shouldn't have any power over the coach if he's in charge of personnel. Sorry, just bad organizational structure. Coach and GM should be equal partners with a president to report to.
Andrew Son Posted December 27, 2016 Posted December 27, 2016 It is kind of nuts that Whaley is conducting the HC search. After Marrone and Rex, you would have thought the Pegulas would retain a consultant to help with them the football side of things. It has been widely reported that Rex wasn't Whaley's pick
qwksilver Posted December 27, 2016 Posted December 27, 2016 he has 31 games as Assistant HC. He's not interviewing for OC. My bad was unaware of the AHC title.
ALLEN1QB Posted December 27, 2016 Posted December 27, 2016 Yes!!!! As Steve Wilkos which say get the f@$k off my stage!!

After Marrone and Rex, you would have thought the Pegulas would retain a consultant to help with them the football side of things. How many GMs get to hire 3 coaches in 5 years? Not many, that's for damn sure.
Billznut Posted December 27, 2016 Posted December 27, 2016 The Bills have a lot riding on losing this week. The need to let Cardale play and increase their chances of losing. If they lose, they draft 9th. If they win, they could go all the way up to 19th. That's a HUGE difference. Rex was going to play Tyrod. Hence they had to make a move now instead of after the Jets game. Rex forced the Pegulas hand with his statement yesterday to play Tyrod.
CountDorkula Posted December 27, 2016 Posted December 27, 2016 It has been widely reported that Rex wasn't Whaley's pick From the original Rex hired as HC thread: Alex Marvez @alexmarvez 2m2 minutes ago I'm also told Pegulas were HEAVILY involved in this hire. May have sweetened the pot considerably to land Rex for @buffalobills @NFLonFOX

Very troublesome. Yet some wonder why things never change around here. Rex needed to go, but my hopes for the future will be modest until I see more changes made before hiring a new coach. Sadly, I don't see that happening.
Peter Posted December 27, 2016 Posted December 27, 2016 Playing with street free agents and without your best players at significant times (injuries and suspensions) is not what I would call a fair way to judge a guy.
26CornerBlitz Posted December 27, 2016 Posted December 27, 2016 Way too much failure in so many different areas on the part of Rex after ALL-IN.
Billznut Posted December 27, 2016 Posted December 27, 2016 Is starting an unprepared QB a smart long-term move for the franchise? Yes. Much much better draft choice in April

run dat back Posted December 27, 2016 Posted December 27, 2016 Has Rob now set a record for most franchises being fired by? Seems like it.

Playing the games to intentionally lose? Wow. Just, wow.
stony Posted December 27, 2016 Posted December 27, 2016 And Schefter reported Bills to start EJ. Yeah, that makes no sense. Doug still thinks EJ can be the guy?

All those too 10 picks over the last 16 years have really helped this team. I'm not worried about winning Sunday. Let's just make a good draft choice with what we get.
YoloinOhio Posted December 27, 2016 Posted December 27, 2016 @jchenelly Rex Ryan not given option to coach va Jets , but he knew this was coming for nearly 2 weeks. Had elected to stay through Miami. #BillsMafia
Juice_32 Posted December 27, 2016 Posted December 27, 2016 It is kind of nuts that Whaley is conducting the HC search. After Marrone and Rex, you would have thought the Pegulas would retain a consultant to help with them the football side of things. This is probably the only reason why he is still left. Russ pushed St. Doug, Russ and the Pegula's were in on Rex. I think that in the Pegula's eyes he doesn't have to wear either of them around his neck. No more excuses after the next choice though. Win or bye bye.
purple haze Posted December 27, 2016 Posted December 27, 2016 It would have been great if it had worked out. He seems like a good dude. But he had to go. I wish him and the other assistants well.
