Paul once told me about being in a meeting with a Marine General who, at one point during the meeting, said "Look, I don't need to know all this ****.  I just want to kill someone.  Tell me who I can kill."

I don't know, obviously...but I have a sneaking suspicion it was Mattis.

As another Marine though, it's hard seeing the Monk Warrior up there without a uniform.... SFMF!

As a non-Marine military history enthusiast, it's difficult too.

US, UK, and France...that'll make the Russian response a little more interesting.

Interesting, too, that CENTCOM used normal deconfliction procedures and communication channels to keep Russians out of the way.

Russians either got played, or gave tacit, under-the-table approval.

Ad idiot Paul probably thought Mattis was talking about him.

Have the MAGA conspiracy theorists determined that this is all a distraction from the Cohen news? That's how it works, right?

And if he hadn't acted in Syria, Maddow would accuse him of being in Putin's pocket.

Truth isn't what Maddow wants. She to protect her narrative.

I'm against the missile strikes, but not for the reason you think.

Disinformation is INTENSE today on all sides...

But I've gotten a few reports in that I trust saying while we were striking Syria, Russia was wiping out an ISIS/Other assault (as in there was coordination with Russia to pull this off). The strikes tricked ISIS/Others into believing this was their chance for a full assault since Russia had bugged out - and they walked right into a meat grinder.

Still trying to confirm this, but if true it fits nicely with the bigger game afoot.

The boat?

The level of strategic disinformation that was at play last night. It's not unexpected or unprecedented by any means - but for an "unstable megalomaniac", it's hilarious how strategically patient and shrewd Trump's administration has been in military matters.

From that same thread, this was interesting too (The Germany bit)

What else did we hit last night besides storage facilities and SSRC?

Hezbollah HQ.

I don't think Germany was too pleased with that. Hence AM's decision to sit this one out.

Make of that what you will.

That second tweet in this captured pic is what interests me...

New stealth missiles?  They went into service 12 years ago.

Surfing the television news outlets, my big takeaway is that there are a lot of people in the press that don't like Trump's use of the phrase "mission accomplished".

Which is exactly why he used it.  First thought when I heard that this morning was "Epic troll."

Yeah - JASSM are not new. Just first time they didn't have nukes attached to them (from my understanding). Incredibly effective against modern air defenses though, and can be carried by all our strategic bombers.

That's likely almost all Mattis' doing.
