Deranged Rhino Posted May 8, 2019 Posted May 8, 2019 Ben Rhodes still pimping for Iran and the MB. Shocking, I tell you, shocking. Traitors gonna trait.
dpberr Posted May 8, 2019 Posted May 8, 2019 I don't know about this threat but you'd think Iran is the last country in the world that'd want Trump's personality committed to turning it into 1999-era Belgrade. They have no backup in the region and Israel and the Saudis would jump at the opportunity to pile on. I read several of Jane's scenario's for Iran and in all of them, Iran gets a few shots in (asymetrical warfare in Iraq, possibly sinks a carrier) before getting completely clobbered back to medieval times. What sucks, upon reflection, is that Iran could have been such a different country. The 1979 Revolution likely never happens if the US and UK don't overthrow Mosaddegh in the 50s all because the Iranians no longer wanted to share oil profits. 1

The Trump plan has two parts: 1) provide the people with enough support (publicly and behind the scenes) to topple the regime from within. 2) destroy Hezbollah and Hamas's abilities to wage war in the region (and abroad) by teaming JSOC teams with GCC strike groups to take kinetic action in multiple theaters at once. The second part of the plan began almost immediately upon Trump being sworn in and is covered at length in the Deep State thread. The first part of the plan has been in motion for a year, and the results have been very positive (for the larger strategic goal). The Mullahs are done. The IRGC is defecting by the bushel. Citizen protests have continued for almost a year. We're close to the end now. Which of course means Iran is more dangerous than ever -- but thanks to part 2 of the plan, most of their offensive capabilities have been taken off the table.

What happens after the lights are turned off at revolution headquarters? The Iranians have no history with "democracy." While Iran does not have all the varities of ethnic tribes that Iraq contends with, their recent history pre-revolution is invasion by foreign powers, meddling by foreign powers and the Shah. I've always been fascinated by their ability to keep their F14 airframes operational. It's weird seeing them in the air today, but also flying with a flag that isn't ours. 1

Iran is much more western than any of it's neighbors outside of Israel -- and were before the Mullahs. Many still are. Their government will continue to function if the Mullahs left today, that's not a grave concern imo.

So Trump could be impeached for this. But using an explosive missile that kills the target and everyone around him? That's just statecraft. ***** bizarre set of rules.
Buffalo_Gal Posted May 9, 2019 Posted May 9, 2019 If this was posted, apologies.Israel newspaper publishes terms of ‘Deal of Century’ The main points of US President Donald Trump’s much-derided plan for the Middle East, the so-called “deal of the century,” were leaked by a Hebrew-language news outlet in Israel yesterday. Israel Hayom published the main points of the deal from a leaked document circulated by the Israeli Foreign Ministry . The US has said it will reveal its deal after the Muslim month of fasting comes to an end in early June. The main points of the agreement put together by Trump’s son-in-law, Jared Kushner — who has extensive interests in Israel and its settlements — and proposed by the US administration are as follows: A tripartite agreement will be signed between Israel, the PLO and Hamas, and a Palestinian state will be established that will be called “New Palestine” and will be established in the occupied West Bank and Gaza, with the exception of the settlements. Israel would release Palestinian prisoners gradually over the course of three years under the deal. The settlement blocs in the occupied West Bank, which are illegal under international law, would form part of Israel. </snip> There is more after the snip. 1 1

No government is legitiatmate without the ability to defend itself. They (United States) are making the same "huge" mistake they made in Iraq. You need to give all the guys you want to disarm...a purpose and something to fight for. You can't just take their weapons away and expect them to be cool with it. All you're doing is stoking an Islamic insurgency that will overthrow the "puppet" Palestinian government. Israel may not like it but New Palestine should be allowed to form their own armed forces. Imagine the British telling George Washington to disband the Continental Army in return for Delaware and Pennsylvania. Edited May 9, 2019 by dpberr

Imagine the British telling George Washington to disband the Continental Army in return for Delaware and Pennsylvania. Difference being, British were not in a position to dictate terms of the aftermath of a war they lost. A more appropriate analogy would be, Washington telling them, "We're not going to harm any remaining British loyalists inside the States, and if you behave, we'll let you keep Canada."
row_33 Posted May 9, 2019 Posted May 9, 2019 i thought all this Middle East stuff was fully settled by Clinton and Obama.... they sure were lionized for solving all the problems
