Thanks D.R. I really respect your insight .

This just is my bugaboo, don't mean to come off so hot. The more I've learned about the realities on the ground over there the more disappointing it gets. We're better as a country than we're showing ourselves to be in Syria.

I've done a search on Otto Warmbier and have seen nothing turn up.

Given how excited the left was when he was sentenced, I would have figured they would be giving a Benghazi-like cheer for his death.

Just in case you weren't paying attention, the left never misses an opportunity to leverage the death of a white man to their narrative.

That is !@#$ing ridiculous.

I still do not see why Otto deserved a death penalty

15 years of hard labor for stealing a banner , give me a break

Unlike the United States, most countries' leaders will actually enforce their laws.

in Otto's case , for his very minor offense, seriously Tom

In any normal country he would have been given a fine , yes or no ?

true, but not right

Of course it's not right, but the guy traveled into North !@#$ing Korea. That's a monumental !@#$ing feat. The fact that he was able to do so in and of itself is an incredible indicator that he knew exactly what he was doing, and the severity of the consequences were he to be caught.

He's a !@#$ing moron who brought this down on himself.

It wasn't a minor offense under North Korean law, was it?

It's actually pretty easy to travel to the DPRK. You just sign up and pay for an excursion with - no **** - Young Pioneer Tours, who specialize in vacation tours marketed to the die-hard communist tourist desiring a visit to fraternal socialist countries like North Korea.

A dedicated communist experienced communism up close. I have little sympathy.

For once tasker, I agree.

Did I miss something about any actual evidence that he committed the crime of which he was accused? I saw an interview with his roommate for the trip which cast a lot of doubt on the claim. Clearly the punishment did not fit the crime, unless you strip all logic away from it, but was there actually even a crime? Why would N. Korea be believed about this? He was detained at the airport days after the supposed crime. Why not right away?

I grant that he made a gigantic mistake if he took the poster and that only added to his initial mistake of going there in the first place.

The people spitting on his grave with tweets about white privilege and/or the North Korean health care system? I don't really have words for that. I remember the outrage at a semi-capitalist country caning a kid that went on for weeks, but when it is a commie country 15 years hard labor, a coma and death is the fault of the white kid.

The point is, the kid had multiple layers of stupid:

1) travelling to NK

2) stealing a poster in NK

3) getting caught stealing a poster in NK

these were all completely avoidable.

Did I miss where 2 & 3 were actually shown to be true?

No, he was framed.

Not sure if you're being sarcastic or not. I have since looked around on the web and saw the CCTV video of "him" stealing the poster. I'm not saying it couldn't have been him but seriously? Is there more? It looks like it could have been Tom Cruise.

The paraded confession is beyond absurd. Methodists and the Obama administration put him up to this super secret mission?
