Why Ukraine-Russia sea clash is fraught with risk

Under the terms of a 2003 agreement, the Azov sea, and its access point through the Kerch Strait is supposed to be shared by Ukraine and Russia.

It worked, up to a point. Then in 2014 Russia seized Crimea and the dynamic changed.

The Kerch Strait was no longer flanked by the Russian authorities to the east, and the Ukrainians in the west.

The straits were now fully under Moscow's control, and the Russians had big plans.

Cargo ships that wanted to reach Ukraine's Azov ports now found themselves subject to more inspections and lengthy delays that sometimes stretched to a week.

Ukraine began complaining that it was facing an economic blockade, and that Russia was in breach of the 2003 "sharing" agreement.

No, it's not.  That's not "line of fire," that's sailing course.

And that isn't nearly as simple - there's recognized international rules for right of way at sea.  From that video, I couldn't tell who violated them.

“The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine received special access to the video of a provocation - a ship of the Russian border ship "Don" of the Ukrainian ship. Intercepted video is taken off Russian, audible teams - this will prove to the international court!

Aggression! We are bundled and we expect the reactions of friendly countries!” From GooGoo Translate.

The vessel being overtaken is responsible for maintaining course and speed or it becomes the burdened vessel. The overtaking vessel is burdened to avoid collision. It appears there are two Rooskie boats, one of which is crossing over the line of ships -forcing the smaller vessel to veer off course - and drift into the path of the Ivan that was following it.

High Seas bumper cars.

Thread from Greenwald but it bears repeating: the MSM and left are so anti-Russian now, they're willingly getting into bed with actual Nazis in the Ukrainian government. Nazis the Obama administration and Clinton/Kerry State Departments helped install.

Nazis are preferred by the (socialist) left to nationalists.

It's not an accident. It's tradition.

Ukraine-Russia sea clash: Poroshenko urges Nato to send ships

Nato has expressed "full support" for Ukraine, which is not a member state.

In the interview with Bild, Mr Poroshenko said Vladimir Putin wanted "nothing less than to occupy the [Azov] sea".

"Germany is one of our closest allies and we hope that states within Nato are now ready to relocate naval ships to the Sea of Azov in order to assist Ukraine and provide security," he said.

Let's send some LCS's.  It's the perfect mission for them: littoral "show the flag" mission, and the Russians would be doing us a favor sinking them if it goes hot.
