Any thoughts on Trump stating that the US will be pulling out of Syria soon?

Seems like an acknowledgement that GCC has things under control regarding ISIS & doesn't need US boots on the ground.

CNN was apoplectic.  No one here (assuming she meant CNN) nor in the WH saw this coming.  Was he lying about never telegraphing military moves or is he lying about this or both.

(Just my guess)

Once the Mullahs are gone, we won't need to be in Syria. I'm thinking 45 is planning on them being gone by November - so "soon" might be 6 months, but that's still faster than anyone would expect.

He's completing the hand-over of our Middle East influence to Putin that Obama started.

Playing to win versus playing not to lose: https://ijr.com/2017/03/822619-i-had-dinner-with-the-afghanistan-ambassador-what-he-said-about-the-differences-between-trump-obama-is-stunning/amp/?__twitter_impression=true

Trump would listen intently after each question, often asking follow-ups. Trump's second call with our president was even longer than the first. Asking these types of questions for our country is something the Obama administration never did. The Obama administration was the most academic administration we have ever had to deal with but the Trump administration has been the most thoughtful and intelligent.

Trump continually asked “How can you win? What does Afghanistan need to win?” in reference to our fight with terrorism. Trump wants to win. Sincerely. All the Obama administration wanted to do was not lose.

I have concerns about Putin and Ukraine for now. What might China do on trade and it's expanding military power.

If borrowing continues to increase at the present pace that could be a problem.

It's hard to win in the NFL anywhere that you don't know what you're doing.

Thanks to this intrepid foreign policy, we are respected around the world!

Clearly you did not read the article - or pay attention to reality the past 8 years.

Partisianship is blinding you. Be better. Be smarter than the very partisanship you're railing against.

If Putin wanted the Ukraine he could have and would have taken it in 14. No one would have stopped him.

As for China - they already blinked after threatening a trade war, and they are legitimately helping with the DPRK for the first time ... Will it last? Dunno.

With Tillerson and McMaster gone now with Bolton in Trump's ear , we will see

Blinked? You mean those tariffs they slapped on our goods? You are so far up Trump's butt you can't breath

The same country that funded the 9/11 terrorists are claiming somebody else is Hitler.  The same country with a horrible human rights record that executes people in the street for minor crimes often admitted under torture.  It's like Ryan Leaf calling Jamarcus Russell a bust.

You're attacking a Republican president that's going farther to the left than Obama and Bill Clinton when it comes to trade.

That's not a new position: the Arabian peninsula has hated and been terrified of Iran for...decades, really.  But increasingly strident about it since the W administration.

The big change is that they feel this enabled, to be so publicly vocal about it.  That speaks volumes about what's changed behind the scenes, geopolitically.

not sure about the pre-Shah days, but Iran has been enemy #1 since the Revolution in the late 70s, which Carter welcomed and said would make the world a Utopia

Going left? No, he is going stupid on trade. Trade barriers are not a left wing issue, aside with some union workers. There is a reason Clinton and Obama didn't do something like this, they are educated and understand a little about economics. Trump understands corruption, money laundering dirty Russian money, how to cheat people and bankruptcy. Not things that work well in the WH

And Saddams Iraq is gone as a bulwark against Shia aggression.

I've been laying out since November where this is going. The GCC has defeated Hezbollah in multiple countries, the funding for Shia and Sunni terror groups originating out of the KSA (and backed by CIA elements) has been cut off and seized.

The ME is going to fix itself by ousting the Mullahs by November while we keep Putin and China from interfering.

By the end of this year we are going to have a denuclearized DPRK, a mullah-less Iran, and the ground paved for real peace talks between Israel and Palestine.

... And Obama will get credit.

Absolutely.

Amd what's happened to make them feel so enabled? Everything listed above plus the GCC has been quietly kicking ass with commando infiltration teams supported by us and other western allies.
