D. L. Hot-Flamethrower Posted December 21, 2016 Posted December 21, 2016 Thanks for posting this! I think a dose of Coughlin's discipline would certainly help. We still take dumb penalties, have people running on the field late, and people making the same mistakes over and over. I have a feeling he may want Jacksonville though, doesn't he live there? And, I wonder if Anthony Lynn would be retained.
Andrew Son Posted December 21, 2016 Posted December 21, 2016 Coughlin's face wouldn't last one season on the Buffalo sideline
CommonCents Posted December 21, 2016 Posted December 21, 2016 No wonder the players are begging the FO to keep Rex, they are in for a rude awakening if this happens.
DriveFor1Outta5 Posted December 21, 2016 Posted December 21, 2016 Good link. I wouldn't mind Coughlin coming here at all, but it seems like there are far more articles linking him to the the Jags. It makes Coughlin in Buffalo seem unlikely to me.
YoloinOhio Posted December 21, 2016 Posted December 21, 2016 Matches up with what we've heard so far. Should be interesting. I'm most interested in who his coordinators would be.
Chandler#81 Posted December 21, 2016 Posted December 21, 2016 His track record speaks for itself. My only concern with ANY new coach is that it's been shown to take 3 years to get the personnel to run the kind of team the new coach(es) want to run. That would make 2 decades and running of no payoffs..
KRT88 Posted December 21, 2016 Posted December 21, 2016 Personally, I'd have no problem with this! I doubt the Bills will get it done and in reality will things get better? The GM and team President are the same and the problem is way deeper than Rex Ryan.
Miyagi-Do Karate Posted December 21, 2016 Posted December 21, 2016 71-year old head coach? Might as well bring back Marv.
Andrew Son Posted December 21, 2016 Posted December 21, 2016 His track record speaks for itself. My only concern with ANY new coach is that it's been shown to take 3 years to get the personnel to run the kind of team the new coach(es) want to run. That would make 2 decades and running of no payoffs.. How about we try that with our current coach?
sullim4 Posted December 21, 2016 Posted December 21, 2016 I'd rather see him in as a senior VP of football operations, directly advising the Pegulas. Kick Russ out and put Coughlin in. Â Marv was 71 when he left the team, Coughlin is now 70. He is an ideal candidate to change the culture of the team, but he's too old to shoulder the day-to-day duties of being a HC.
John from Riverside Posted December 21, 2016 Posted December 21, 2016 Damn he looks old I would like to see someone come in and tell RR that he needs to hire a real DC and manage the overall team philosophy.....someone that will match strengths of team with this defense  And someone who will not look to tear apart our offense but give an "outside view" to see if they really think a change at QB needs to happen......someone that will say "there needs to be some competition here"
H2o Posted December 21, 2016 Posted December 21, 2016 I just wonder who Coughlin would bring along as DC/OC? The staff selection after the hire would be the most interesting thing for me.
jr1 Posted December 21, 2016 Posted December 21, 2016 the Giants are much better without him. The game has passed him by
Miyagi-Do Karate Posted December 21, 2016 Posted December 21, 2016 How about we round out this senior staff with Gunther Cunningham as D.C and Tom Moore as OC?
BuffaloBaumer Posted December 21, 2016 Posted December 21, 2016 This won't mean a damn thing..find a freaking QB. Coughlin will come in here next year, they'll let Rex and Tyrod go and bottom out. Maybe that's the plan. Put a scrub in at QB and pull a Cleveland for 1 year....fun times
The Jokeman Posted December 21, 2016 Posted December 21, 2016 I just wonder who Coughlin would bring along as DC/OC? The staff selection after the hire would be the most interesting thing for me. If look at recent history I'd guess he might select Perry Fewell (or maybe not if he doesn't want to return here) as DC and Danny Langsdorf as OC. How about we round out this senior staff with Gunther Cunningham as D.C and Tom Moore as OC? Gunther worked with Schwartz in Detroit, I know you said it in gest but I might honestly consider it.
QB Bills Posted December 21, 2016 Posted December 21, 2016 Goodbye Dave & Busters and Gatorade, hello Bingo and metamucil
CommonCents Posted December 21, 2016 Posted December 21, 2016 I assume any organization willing to hire Coughlin is going to want him to bring his successor with him. Who does Tom still have available? A few of his guys are now successful at either HC or DC I'm not sure who's left.
