The Big Cat Posted December 19, 2016 Posted December 19, 2016 Posted it in two other threads. This is pretty big, given this guy's penchant for scoops: http://forums.twobillsdrive.com/topic/190647-new-chenelly-tweet-coughlin-an-option/page-7?do=findComment&comment=4169932
Coach Tuesday Posted December 19, 2016 Posted December 19, 2016 I'm tired of the constant change, it keeps setting us back and creates an atmosphere of dysfunction. That said - Rex really earned this. He deserves to be fired.

Leroi Posted December 19, 2016 Posted December 19, 2016 More fake news from twitter. Not reliable and shouldn't be considered a source. Imo
John from Riverside Posted December 19, 2016 Posted December 19, 2016 Unless Lynn is the man on deck... I would be ok with that....I dont see anyone out there that I really want more. He needs to bring in a 4-3 defensive minded DC with a track record of success

Coach Tuesday Posted December 19, 2016 Posted December 19, 2016 Unless Lynn is the man on deck... That isn't the result I'd want - I'm just saying, Rex earned himself a dismissal and it's a shame. He did not put in the work, did not adjust, and, perhaps most deadly, overpromised.
John from Riverside Posted December 19, 2016 Posted December 19, 2016 You mean like Gus Bradley? Some guys are great coordinator's but louse HC's
The Big Cat Posted December 19, 2016 Author Posted December 19, 2016 Some guys are great coordinator's but louse HC's Exactly.
RussellDopeland Posted December 19, 2016 Posted December 19, 2016 I've advocated for Rex's dismissal- but I genuinely think he's a good guy, and cannot help but feel disapointed that this turned out the way it did. What's always confounded me is the fact that Mike Pettine had success with his defense here in 2013. Mind you, it wasn't a "great" defense- but it was far superior to what we've seen these last 2 seasons, or at least felt that way. Given that Pettine was a long-time understudy of Rex's, one could've assumed (as I did) that Rex would build on what Pettine had accomplshed, and the defense would've been better for it. Many of the core players from '13 were here in 2015..some are still here now.
Over 29 years of fanhood Posted December 19, 2016 Posted December 19, 2016 I believe the source is Iraq vet on TBD
May Day 10 Posted December 19, 2016 Posted December 19, 2016 if the decision is made... and he has been told... then why is he still here?
BringBackOrton Posted December 19, 2016 Posted December 19, 2016 if the decision is made... and he has been told... then why is he still here? Optics. Torture.
May Day 10 Posted December 19, 2016 Posted December 19, 2016 Optics. Torture. If it is true... it makes me think that the Bills are going to give the position to Anthony Lynn... and dont want the move to lose its 'luster' before next season
Nihilarian Posted December 19, 2016 Posted December 19, 2016 What owner, GM, team president in his right mind would tell someone weeks before the end of the season they are done and allow them to continue working? None, that's who! Complete rubbish as the team still has an ever so slight chance to make the playoffs.
nedboy7 Posted December 19, 2016 Posted December 19, 2016 There is zero chance he was told he is fired and allowed to coach three more games. Unless the owners think they are running a lemonade stand.
vincec Posted December 19, 2016 Posted December 19, 2016 (edited) There is zero chance he was told he is fired and allowed to coach three more games. Unless the owners think they are running a lemonade stand. Exactly what I was thinking. And even if the owners are that clueless, Rex would never do it. He would be gone. This is total BS. Ed_Formerly_of_Roch Posted December 19, 2016 Posted December 19, 2016 (edited) Didn't the Bills do that about 5 or 6 year back and whomever the coach at the time was decided to leave right then but had been given the option to complete the season. Think it was when Bobby April was ST coach and he got mad that they didn't make him the interim HC as his title was assistant HC. I believe both Bill Pollian and Tom Donahoe knew they weren't coming back at seasons end. Granted they were both GM's a bit different. Hmmmm.... Maybe this is the Buffalo way!! What owner, GM, team president in his right mind would tell someone weeks before the end of the season they are done and allow them to continue working? None, that's who! vincec Posted December 19, 2016 Posted December 19, 2016 (edited) What would Rex do? Walk away leaving $15M? He would do everything in his power to negotiate his leaving immediately. Forcing him to stay under those conditions would benefit no one. Edited December 19, 2016 by vincec
