Oakland clinches playoff berth after 13 years

Sub Carr for Tyrod and we're in the playoffs. It's really that simple.

Before Carr, people wanted to fire their GM. They stuck with him.

Exactly...

Where are the Raiders if they don't get lucky with Carr in the 2nd? Probably not much better than Jax at this point. And lets not pretend the Raiders are some genius for taking Carr, if they thought that much of him they would have taken him with the 5th pick in the draft as he is vastly more important than Mack is to that team...that is not a slap on Mack, he's amazing, but the D is not good and the team wins because Carr has been very good, even with an up and down Amari Cooper. Carr had a small chance to go in the top half of the first round, but he went about where people expected him to go. Raiders were in the right spot and got lucky that a good but not elite QB prospect turned out to exceed expectations. For every Carr there are a 100 Geno's, Brohm's, etc.

Even after the 2014 QB class completed their rookie seasons, they did a "redraft" update on the class...Carr was still 4th on the list behind Teddy, Bortles, and even Mettenberger. Just goes to show, that you have to let players develop and you never know who is going to rise or not. And GM's get over exaggerated praise that makes people forget all their other mistakes when one of those picks grossly out performs expectations...just like when a GM gets all the blame when they take the exact elite prospect they should and are expected to take but then busts. The same people applauding the pick then turn on the GM for being so stupid for taking the pick.

By and large the draft IS luck (see Manning/Leaf for starters). Everyone knew Mack was highly rated so the Raiders took him early. Picking Carr early would have been high risk (umm, EJ) and the Raiders would not have had ended up with both Mack and Carr. Lucky? Yes and no.

See what happens when you have a legit passing game

And they did it without having a top 5 defense and a top end running game. No no thats not right

Although I think they will struggle in the playoffs because of it but I would take it in a heartbeat in a minute!

Can have what you are smoking

Is that sarcasm,or are you for real

Sarcasm.

We need a QB, RT, WRs, TE and Safety

GM moves

built an O-line...penn, osemele, gabe jackson

added pricey free agents LB bruce Irvin, CB sean smith, FS reggie nelson

hit on draft picks:

2014 - mack & carr

2015 - cooper

Papa, They hit because they LET CARR PLAY! -How many games did they win his first season? -second?

When you draft a young QB, you gotta be mentally prepared to write-off a season... Plain, and simple.

They got Carr the best receiver in the draft, plus a big, rangy TE in Clive Walford... They reinforced their defense with a leader, and enforcer in Kahlil Mack... All we did was draft a bunch of injured guys, and buy Rex's bulls__t... -Not in that order, but you get my point. As I sit here, I can recall SO MANY mistakes, and gaffes.... Too many to frickin' count.
