bartshan-83
I know there are some recent grads here and some other who have played the game. I consider myself as close to the top of the beer pong game as one can be but I got into a big argument on the rules tonight. I ask of you: If your team has hit the last cup, but only one teammate hits (therefore giving the opposition a chance to throw again), if they hit both of their shots, is the game over? I strongly disagree. I believe that once your team hits the last cup, the worst you can do is to give the other team first shot in OT. If they hit once, then they force OT. IF they hit the last cup twice, then they get a bring back and they get first shot in OT. The dudes I played tonight pulled some sh(t out their asses and made both shots on the last cup and claimed they won the game after I had made last cup the turn before, I said they were full of sh--. They said it was their house and they decided the rules. We left and went to the bar. Who was right?
stevestojan
Bart, no matter what, you play by house rules. That said, those guys' first rule was obviously "we win no matter what". That rule is NOT a rule, in ANY world of beer pong - ever. If you hit the last cup, they get two throws to match. If they make it in either one, you either start a new rack, or (like I play, and most other people play) you set up three cups and go into OT. These guys suck and you were right to leave. bartshan-83
Stoj, somehow I am glad you were the one to answer my question. I agree that house rules take precendent. Which is why we decided to leave. But if it had been at my place, sh-- would have been different. I hope to play you or some of your boys in a game at a tailgate sometime in the future. why you up at 5 anyway?

House rules take precident 99.99% of the time. In this case, these guys fell into that rare .01%. It would be like them saying "no, house rule says if we make two cups in a row, we win". These guys were flat out WRONG, house rules or no. The best they could do, again house rules or not, is tie and send you to OT. I'll have seasons next year, and am ALWAYS up for a game of pong. (well, i used to play pong, but since moving to florida, (and i guess since graduating college) I don't play much anymore, and the one guy that still has a setup that i know down here plays Beirut, which i actually like better (same game, no bouncing). Anyway, I'm up at freaking 5:00am because I had a long week, worked a bunch of OT, and while i was waiting for a call from some friends to go out, I fell asleep. At friggign 9:00pm! So, not only was that lame for a friday night, now I'm full on sleep with nothing to do...
buffalomike
yeah even if they hit 2 the best they can do is get the ball first in OT which would be the standard triangle 3 cup formation.

stevestojan
Beer pong? How the other half lives I guess... 253674[/snapback] The other half? I'd say anyone who ever went to, or even visited a college has at least seen a game of beer pong!
silvermike
I'd like to see a regional Beirut/Beer Pong breakdown. Buffalo, I think, seems to be pretty solidly in the Pong category, but up here in Western Mass, we're consistently Beiruters. Weigh in?

Never saw a game of pong but saw plenty of the Dean's List at least.

That being said, if i didn't spend at least some time there, I would have never met those people, due to failing out. Delicate balance.

C.Biscuit97
Beirut may be the greatest game ever invented. With no mor NHL, I believe it could be the 4th national sport. The game is played different ever place you go. I went ot the University of Rochester (class of '03). The way we played at my house was each side had 2 6 cup pyramids. It is rapid fire and one someone makes you cup, you pass the ball to your partner and they shoot when you drink. When a side is down to 6 cups, you put them back into a pyramid. As for the last cup, it is whoever makes it first. I like the way we play the best because it is fast and empasizes skill. There is, however, no worng way to play. In fact, I'm playing tonight and would be glad to challenge anyone to a game sometime.
