What a vast improvement that would be over Rex and Tyrod. Say what you want about Shanahan but that fiery little Irishman is a no non sense kind of coach and he wools make people be accountable. He also knows how to handle Cutler.

Kyle yes. Cutler no.

OK, I understand this is desperation, but I sense a window of opportunity about to shut in about a year, so hear me out. Remember Jay Cutler the first time around, when he was going by the name Jeff George? Great talent, but just a flat-out loser. Poison. Nobody wanted him. And then this happened:

1999: 8-2 for the Vikes. Playoffs. He was actually good! Won a playoff game .. and then it was all over.

Let me repeat: WON A PLAYOFF GAME. In which he had a 117 QB rating. And then threw FOR 423 YARDS (translation: 2.5 Tyrod games) in a losing shootout vs. Kurt Warner's Rams. Sometimes talent shines through, if only for a little while ... maybe you're lucky and you catch that little while.

Cutler at this point would be a reasonable 1 year make good deal. And signing him wouldn't preclude you from grooming a young QB to be his successor. If things went south fast (and they probably would) what's to lose? The alternative is what, Brian Hoyer? Cardale "Never Took a Snap" Jones from Game 1? I said I was desperate. Desperate times call for desperate measures!

Where the fascination with Cutler comes from I don't know. Let Cleveland have him.

"Fascination" is defined as "who the hell else is out there" For the record, I'd prefer Nick Foles. But something makes me thing some other team will give him an ill-advised 4 year deal or something.

Where is Foles? IR?

As far as I know he's active, waiting for Alex Smith to get hurt. KC will owe him almost 11 million bucks next year if they exercise their option on him. So unless Smith absolutely falls flat on his face and is waived (in which case let's get him!) Foles should hit the market.

Oh man, I forgot he is backing up Smith in KC, I still thought he was in LA. I would say he would be at the top of my list for a veteran stop gap with the next option, but not as ideal being Kaepernick then Bradford. Bottom 3 probably Hover, Cutler, then Room in that order.

I kind of agree. I'd go Foles (maybe bring in his old OC Pat Shumur as head coach? That seemed to work really well under Chip Kelly with Shady as the star offensive player), then Cutler, then (maybe, if a one-year deal) Bradford. Not sure there's anyone else available that I'd find preferable to bringing back Tyrod or just going with Cardale or a draft pick. But then again my bias is to making a bold move for a 1 or 2 year shot while Sammy is under contract and Shady is still productive (and before the Dareus contract becomes a big liability)

Using Jeff George as an example to take a chance on a QB can't be a good thing.

I understand the issues with Taylor, and maybe because it's easier to focus on one player as opposed to a whole unit, but the main reason we are not in the playoffs is because of the poor performance of our defense. Our offense has scored enough to win a few games that we lost, and if healthier the whole season, would likely have been even better. This offense has enough talent when healthy to get in the playoffs, if complimented by a good defense.

Interesting little nugget from Sirius NFL radio Moving the Chains Co host Pat Kirwan. I was listening earlier today and he says that don't be surprised if Mike Shanahan and his son Kyle don't become a GM/HC tandem for a team next season. He even stated that there was some interest already from a couple of teams. I only caught the tail end of it and I'm paraphrasing but that's what I got out of it. If so I find that very interesting, even if it's not Buffalo I wonder what team they would end up on if any.

What fans need to remember is that Cutler has had only two winning seasons in his 11-year career and need to remember the talent he had around him on some of those teams.Brandon Marshall, Martellus Bennett, Matte Forte, Earl Bennett, Devin Hester, Alshon Jeffery all sound familiar? It doesn't get better in Buffalo and yet very limited success with that talent.

Me, I'd rather kick the tires on Cardale Jones or draft a QB over a retread like Cutler.

In all honesty, if Rex stays or goes it's now time to draft for the defense again, S/CB/DT to replace Aaron Williams, Stephon Gilmore, Kyle Williams. Kinda sucks 2015 was mired by the Watkins trade as the team had no 1st or 4th pick, and 2016 the first three picks were to upgrade Ryan's 3-4 defense.

This was rumored to happen with the bills when we signed Rex.
