BADOLBILZ Posted December 9, 2016 Posted December 9, 2016 I have never seen a paper cover a home as negatively as they do. Somebody has an agenda . Terry should buy it and fire them all Merry Christmas for Jerry and Tim. Tyler Dunne was objective and fair . Delusional take. You haven't seen the daily broil of a large market newspaper when the home team is losing. As for buying the paper.......the Tribune Company did that many, many, many years ago with the Cubs. That didn't work out so well for the home fans. A little pressure to perform isn't actually a bad thing. And btw, Tyler Dunne was just passing thru. That's not objectivity, that's avoiding the negative while trying to reach a certain job level. Writers like Sully and Tim are set in their jobs so they can call it like they see it.

The next media professional who willfully declines upward mobility would be the first.
BmarvB Posted December 9, 2016 Posted December 9, 2016 Asked why in two years his defense has not come anywhere close to playing at an elite level, Ryan said: "I'm not sure. At times we play pretty good, and then there are other times, mistake here or whatever, that's kind of what yesterday (was)". I've come to the conclusions that Rex Ryan is over-hyped and over-rated and he is not the great defensive genius that many believe. Much of his previous success has been the result of work done and groundwork layed down by his predecessors, Marvin Lewis with the Ravens defense and Mike Tannenbaum and Eric Mangini with the Jets setting up the run of consecutive AFC Championship games. At this point Rex is employing the strategy of doing more of what isn't working until it starts to work with the Bills defense. He brought in his brother Rob who I understood was some sort of Red Zone specialist. But the Bills Red Zone defense has gotten worse. He brought in Ed Reed to coach/mentor the DBs and either Ed is not imparting his wisdom to them or the DBs are incapable of understanding and assimilating his advice into their performance on the field. These are just two examples. They can't generate pressure and turnovers against the better teams and what I find most incredible is how wide-open opposition receivers are when watching the games. When they catch the ball I wonder when a Bills defender is going to show up on the TV screen. He took over the NFL's 4th rated defense and ran it down to 19th and 12th over two seasons. I entered the season with an open mind about Ryan but at this point i think its an exercise in futility to believe things are going to turn around. Pegula needs to cut his losses now when the framework of a good group of players is still in place. We need a professional franchise Head Coach not some pretender showman. Donnie Henderson was doing a great job with the secondary, he just wasn't one of Rex's cronies so out the door he went, and down the drain went the secondary (losing AW didn't help either). Defensively, Rex tried to fix what wasn't broke and ed it up royally. The Ryan's best coaching days are behind them. Yes we will see flashes of what made them good from time to time (against lesser opponents) but neither one of them will relive the past in today's NFL.
BADOLBILZ Posted December 9, 2016 Posted December 9, 2016 ...and because they're not as talented as Tyler. The next media professional who willfully declines upward mobility would be the first. Their family situations have dictated them staying local and therefore upward mobility is not really an issue...........so........wrong again. As for talent, Graham used to be right where Dunne is now. Guys like Graham and Mike Schopp have dabbled with ESPN work but I think they realize that the risk of becoming a media nomad isn't worth the reward when you have steady work at home. Don't want to end up like Jim Brinson with 20 jobs in 20 different towns in 30 years of broadcasting.

"We need a professional franchise Head Coach not some pretender showman". Well, that there is the problem. Rex is the closest thing the Bills have had. No other accomplished guy has wanted the d-mn job. For all his warts, Rex is the first name brand HC this franchise has EVER attracted, good or bad. When you demand that Rex be fired, be careful about what you're asking for. Let's see what team shows up on Sunday and go from there. Edited December 9, 2016 by 8and8-->NoMore

manbeast Posted December 9, 2016 Posted December 9, 2016 Three stories in the Buff News today with some serious questioning of Rex Ryan and his talk. Seems like the News is getting tired of his act. Is Shaq Lawson starting for Lorenzo Alexander this week? Nobody knows The Sammy-got-stepped-on story from September seems kind of serious Jay Skurski's 3 Bills thoughts: Rex Ryan edition I know the News hasn't always had the greatest relationship with the team, but this seemed pretty bold all in one day. F... Buffalo News
BillsVet Posted December 9, 2016 Posted December 9, 2016 If only some fans held their team as accountable as the writers do. Writers are wrong from time to time, but their criticism of the team places them among those who've been more right than the pom-pom waving element of the fan base.
BADOLBILZ Posted December 9, 2016 Posted December 9, 2016 Wrong, huh? Okay. Says you. Not going to bother arguing with you about this. Yes wrong, again. You made an obviously dumb, blanket statement claiming that members of the media would never turn down a perceived promotion. You don't have to be an expert on Buffalo media members to know that many of them are here specifically because they have family here. Howard Simon married a local woman and has kids here the same as Sullivan. Graham came back to be near his family, which needed him here. Talk about someone who is obviously wrong and can't admit it. But thanks for not arguing about how wrong you are?
PromoTheRobot Posted December 9, 2016 Posted December 9, 2016 How many years in a row do they have to be right before they are no longer hacks? Why discuss anything if they are "right?"
BringBackOrton Posted December 9, 2016 Posted December 9, 2016 Why discuss anything if they are "right?" Because that's what fans do. Some folks are gluttons for punishment when they trash Sully and the gang every year though.

Writers like Sully and Tim are set in their jobs so they can call it like they see it. hmmm where to start. I live in North Jersey . for most of my life that basically means 4 papers to read. ny post, Ny daily news, Nj Record Nj star ledger. 9 major teams a all most every team went through long and major down turns. I read everything , nothing better then a good sport section. They all have their over the top negative headlines . The difference is when you get to the daily articles they are usually either talking about a positive story from a emerging player, how the team can fix a problem moving forward, or a fair evaluation of the state of affairs. The Buffalo news tears down the Bills in almost every article. A good example right now are the Nets. Everyone knows they are coming out of a mess. The daily stories are not a constant beat of how much they screwed up , how they suck ect . The stories are about an interesting prospect in the d league, or a young player emerging . As for Jerry , he is a bitter old queen , who has lived a sad life hiding from himself, imo/ Tim is just a **** stirrer. The kind of kid that would get punched in the face when he was in high school for being a jack ass. Obviously I was joking when I said Terry should purchase the paper. He seems more mature and dignified to do something of the sort. If only some fans held their team as accountable as the writers do. Writers are wrong from time to time, but their criticism of the team places them among those who've been more right than the pom-pom waving element of the fan base. My point is they have a constant drum beat of negativity . you will not find it anywhere in the country . Jerry is the worst. Tim is just a dick Sure thing. Whatever you say. You've definitely convinced me that I was wrong. Your time spent typing that was not at all wasted. Media people move all the time for better opportunities. That is the way it works . Do really think anyone is banging on their door. Watch Joe b he will be gone in three years.
Saxum Posted December 9, 2016 Posted December 9, 2016 I know the News hasn't always had the greatest relationship with the team, but this seemed pretty bold all in one day. And the team should tell them they have had it with Buffalo News which has been mostly become speculation and opinion rather than news.
BringBackOrton Posted December 9, 2016 Posted December 9, 2016 Sure thing. Whatever you say. You've definitely convinced me that I was wrong. Your time spent typing that was not at all wasted. Who are you kidding, we all know you read it and had nothing to say.

transient Posted December 9, 2016 Posted December 9, 2016 How I imagine your PM inbox now that you've indicated having a personal relationship with the Bills GM: Is this a supposed to be a visual euphemism for a form of Japanese group sexual deviance? ...cuz, it kinda looks like it's supposed to.
