DanInSouthBuffalo Posted September 5, 2004 Posted September 5, 2004 There's always the possibility of trades. I've seen a couple in the last few days with other teams. I imagine they want time to contact the players too.
Matt in KC Posted September 5, 2004 Posted September 5, 2004 I suppose if you are Lauvale Sape, it's not a comfortable time to hear your phone ring. I would give my family / friends a different # than the team!
njsue Posted September 5, 2004 Posted September 5, 2004 Just to keep the fans stewing like some of the people here on the wall
DonInBuffalo Posted September 5, 2004 Posted September 5, 2004 They wait until the last minute to maximize the chances of getting the cuts they want onto the practice squad. For example, one of the bubble players for the Bills is Euhus. If a team that needed a TE, such as the Giants, knew the Bills had cut Euhus, they could tailor their roster cuts to leave a spot open for him, and sign him. Generally speaking, the later a team's cuts get reported to the media, the more likely it is there are one or more players they want to quietly slip through to their PS.
FluffHead Posted September 5, 2004 Posted September 5, 2004 I would imagine they would like to tell the players personally that they have been cut as well. It would really suck to find out through the news that you had been cut.
