It's why he fell to the mid-2nd round. But the Bills should have taken him.

They just mentioned on Mike & Mike that Polian said the Colts doctors said he should not be a draft option due to his back injury. So the Pats have done great to get this long out of him. An all-time talent, but you have to wonder how much is left. I hope he makes good decisions and doesn't regret anything later in life.

EDIT: polian on now and just clarified that he was not a first round option due to the back.

all true. He was a risk worth taking for the Pats, regardless of what happens from here it paid off a million times over. Hate the Pats, he always kills the Bills, but wish him the best.

The beginning of the end. Gronk done, Brady a limping around 40 year old.

Sit back and enjoy the demise

cant argue there. Though BB says he can't tell Garropolo and Tom apart in practice. We shall see if there is any drop off whenever he finally takes over. Edited by YoloinOhio

Cause they trying to trade him this offseason

That would be, IMO, a colossal mistake.

He's got one year left on his deal, and it's dirt cheap. Brady, by contrast, will be 40 at the start of next season.

A smart team would hold onto them both, look for any sign of decline in Brady through the 2017 season, and then make a decision.

It's easy enough to tag Jimmy after 2017 if they want to keep him, and move on from Brady. More than likely, some team will be willing to give them a draft pick for him even if he's in decline.

At the same time, they could just as easily trade Garoppolo after tagging him. Any QB-desperate team will probably give up a better pick than the compensatory selection that they'd get by allowing him to leave in FA.

yep that could be it too but it seems foolish to do so, no? Brady is 40 and how do they know they can get a QB even as good as Jimmy later on? At least he looked good to me in the 3 games he played. I'd take him on the Bills in a heartbeat (nothing against TT who I like but JG is a more complete QB IMO) Edited by YoloinOhio

@sullybunz

CAREER ENDING?

Depending on the surgery, former #Patriots tm Dr Thomas Gill says it's a possibility @RobGronkowski career could b over #wbz

@profootballdoc

Former @Patriots team doc: #Gronk's previous back surgeries on same disc.

Either media wrong about 2 different discs or #HIPPA violation.

@RapSheet

#PatriotsNFL_Season_2016_NE.png would’ve placed Rob Gronkowski on IR Thurs, but kept the door open a crack for surgery results. All but certain it happens today

Unfortunately, @Patriots used their single IR/dfr slot activating #JacobyBrissett on Wednesday. IR would eliminate any #Gronk playoff return

he and Romo should hang it up. There's so much more to life than being tackled by a chiseled linebacker

He has his brand and his ring. He could go on to a lot more fun things after football. Even if he walks away now, he will be considered the best TE ever. Especially with injury uncertainty and the element of "what could have been".

If his career is indeed over, would you induct him into the HOF based on what he's done so far?

He said that? Ive never heard BB be so forthright in talking to the media.
