Larry Summers:

Summers, in a Dec. 2 blog post, said Trumps intervention was a dangerous shift away from American-style capitalism.

But bailing out GM and Chrysler wasn't "a dangerous shift away from American-style capitalism". Summers is laissez-faire except when he isn't.

He was the financial genius that was Secretary of the Treasury in Bill Clinton's wondrously blessed economic boom years. Of course, he had nothing to do with it - kinda like Richard Nixon being the POTUS when Neil and Buzz walked on the lunar surface.

The government mandated Y2K compliance because of the "genius" Bill Gates' lack of foresight when crafting and promoting DOS. It forced companies to spend billions on compliance certification, and created a boom in the tech dot com sector - which promptly went dot bomb when the world burst through the terrifying barrier of January 1, 2000 and woke up to see the traffic lights still working properly, automated drug delivery systems still working, ATMs not spewing twenties in continuous streams, etc., etc., etc.

Helping an industry is one thing, bullying companies to make political points is another, very different. Take off your Trump blinders

The whole carrier thing is overblown. From what we know the state of Indiana provided incentives to induce Carrier to keep a bunch of jobs there. Happens all the time. We can debate the wisdom of states doing this and there are arguments on both sides. Trump hasn't been sworn in yet and hasn't made any federal government decisions.

Conversely Bush/Obama forced banks to take Tarp funds, selective banks even when some of those banks didn't want them. Charged them interest, gave them no choice. Some of the banks didn't need the money. I don't recall the left being angry at that.

How about bullying entire industries? You were okay with Obama doing that, weren't you?

And you were okay with Obama bullying BP, I'm sure...

BP, which created a massive environmental disaster? Yes!

Trump is interfering in business decisions, not environmental disaster. You creep

So rather than being held responsible by the courts, it's okay for the President to strong-arm a company in complete violation of due process.

But you've got your panties in a bunch because of a situation where a company wasn't even bullied. But a clear-cut case of true fascism...that you're fine with, because Democrats!

You're an !@#$.

It was a disaster that had to be addressed. He did. Good job. Trump is bullying a company for political reasons alone. You are funny, though

Not that you are trying to be, its just that you are

The state of Indiana gave incentives to keep Carrier in Indiana. President elect Trump painted an upbeat picture of the future business friendly climate during his presidency. I can't wait to have some bully give me money and promise me better things ahead.

Oh good, after being called for his BS, he paid them off...

So screwing the people who owned stock as well as the bond holders is "helping an industry" in Gator's world. He is perfectly fine with stealing and lying and who knows what else provided it is his tribe collecting the booty. Gator has no ethics.

It did help the industry, it's doing fine now. Trump went after Boeing for--gasp!!--criticizing him. To you Trumpsters, that is fine. You will condemn Obama to no end for dealing with an actual problem but jump to Trump's defense for this abuse of power.

Quite typical of your dishonest disposition as you failed to address the fact that "helping an industry" was done by theft. IOW, you condone theft. Good to know.
