cage Posted November 29, 2016 Posted November 29, 2016 I just don't get it. Other than the occasional bomb, it just doesn't seem possible to get Goodwin into space so he can run after a catch. I don't think I've ever seen another blazing fast guy (among the fastest in the NFL) who just cannot be shook loose for YAC. Every completion to him is a sideline or comeback pattern that gets him immediately tackled. Lynn, TT and Goodwin should be studying Andre Reed. I don't think I've ever seen us try to hit him on a slant like Reed did time and time again. When I watch Baldwin in the Seattle game a couple weeks ago or Julian Edelman these fast guys are constantly on slants, crossing patterns underneath and then off to the races turning 7 yard passes into 30-40 yard plays... irritating!
atlbillsfan1975 Posted November 29, 2016 Posted November 29, 2016 Goodwin doing slants equals no Goodwin. Fast but not durable.
Big Turk Posted November 29, 2016 Posted November 29, 2016 Goodwin doesn't have the frame to take that beating...Andre Reed was thick and muscular and could take the pounding inside...Goodwin would get lit up by a LB and that would be his season...
MarkyMannn Posted November 29, 2016 Posted November 29, 2016 (edited) Two slants and Glasswin would be a corpse. Laughable to compare anyone on this roster to A Reed Edited November 29, 2016 by MarkyMannn
TPS Posted November 29, 2016 Posted November 29, 2016 Goodwin is the complement you want when you have Sammy on one side and Woods in the slot. Without those other threats he's no Goodwin. He'll be replaced by the rook on IR
cage Posted November 29, 2016 Author Posted November 29, 2016 Goodwin doing slants equals no Goodwin. Fast but not durable. How come Julian Edelman and Doug Baldwin can do it week in and week out? They're no Andre Reed either...
Chandler#81 Posted November 29, 2016 Posted November 29, 2016 been frustrated with him since his rookie season. Hope the experiment ends this off season.
mannc Posted November 29, 2016 Posted November 29, 2016 been frustrated with him since his rookie season. Hope the experiment ends this off season.Which Bills receivers have you been happy with this year? It's tough to impress when your qb does not deliver the ball to open receivers with any consistency.
jumbalaya Posted November 29, 2016 Posted November 29, 2016 Is the problem the routes called, the QB or him?
26CornerBlitz Posted November 29, 2016 Posted November 29, 2016 He's a complementary piece in a run 1st offense who's at his best when primary threats are in the lineup.
Jobot Posted November 29, 2016 Posted November 29, 2016 Throwing slants requires accurate throws over the middle. Your two examples have Russel Wilson and Tom Brady throwing the ball.
LB3 Posted November 29, 2016 Posted November 29, 2016 (edited) How come Julian Edelman and Doug Baldwin can do it week in and week out? They're no Andre Reed either... They have QB's who can hit slants in stride. Edited November 29, 2016 by LBSeeBallLBGetBall

It's tough to impress when your qb does not deliver the ball to open receivers with any consistency. I'm talking about his full career to date. Actually, this has been his best season, given that he isn't on IR yet..
papazoid Posted November 29, 2016 Posted November 29, 2016 all he does is run fast he doesn't come back for the ball, he stays still and waits for it....meanwhile the db is cutting in front of him.
GG Posted November 29, 2016 Posted November 29, 2016 How come Julian Edelman and Doug Baldwin can do it week in and week out? They're no Andre Reed either... Better body builds to take a beating. Edelman gets lit up on nearly every play and bounces back. If Goodwin takes 1/2 the hit that Edelman takes, he's out for the year. As others said, Goodwin's role is a #4 WR
Webster Guy Posted November 29, 2016 Posted November 29, 2016 Goodwin is the complement you want when you have Sammy on one side and Woods in the slot. Without those other threats he's no Goodwin. He'll be replaced by the rook on IR Yup. As we've learned having a deep ball thrower like TT, there is a lot more to the long ball than just straight speed. Reacting to the ball, body positioning, leverage, fading in slightly on the go routes so you have space between you and the sideline to use in making the catch (sammy's last bomb he did it perfectly). Frankly I'm still amazed Goodwin was able to come into the camp so late this year and claim the wr3 spot. He's a nice kid but I look forward to the day he's replaced.

Yet another QB problem to be honest.
YoloinOhio Posted November 29, 2016 Posted November 29, 2016 (edited) He actually looks better than I expected. Made some nice grabs vs Seattle and seems to be a decent sideline target for TT. He's come a long way from 2014 when he had like one catch all year. Edited November 29, 2016 by YoloinOhio
uticaclub Posted November 29, 2016 Posted November 29, 2016 First drive of the game on 3rd down, Goodwin was wide open, Tyrod prematurely runs out of the box and out of bounces...again. We have a QB thats struggles at finding open WRs and throwing accurate passes
