Hack: to forcibly enter a system using methods which alter or disrupt the ability of software or hardware to perform securely. This was done to Iranian centrifuges

For more on hack See also jerry Sullivan

Crack: to enter a system via permissions which do not circumvent regular security. Like guess passwords or secret questions. This was done against Sarah Palin

Leak: to furnish information from a source or information spread maliciously or accidently this was done to Hillary.

We're just witnessing infighting between the FBI and CIA, which is pretty normal. And they're arguing strictly according to their own biases: the guys who investigate cybercrime are calling it cybercrime, the guys who investigate espionage are calling it espionage. Notably, the counter-espionage guys, who are in a better position to know if it's espionage than the espionage guys, are not calling it espionage.

And the people who leaked Trump's words are bitching about Hillary's words being leaked. This isn't democracy, it's a !@#$ing circus.

I agree to a point with much of the above, especially the bolded which is a point that hasn't been discussed because we've been too bogged down arguing whether or not the infighting is even happening.

It is normal to have infighting happen behind the scenes of these agencies. It's even normal for some of that to bleed through to the press every so often.

What's unique is the scope and apparent level of discord being demonstrated between these two agencies (though I think it goes well beyond just those two agencies, NSA/DHS/DIA are also involved in the squabble) as well as the timing. The timing is perhaps the most extraordinary part of this.

Our country is never more vulnerable than it is during a transition of power. Traditionally, even in the halls of the IC, you don't rock the boat during this transition because it undermines the validity of the process. You heard this very refrain coming from Comey's critics when he announced the Huma/Weiner evidence in October. It's one of those unwritten rules of the intelligence services.

But what we are seeing playing out in front of us is a massive uptick in the infighting between agencies during the transition, using their chosen outlets in the MSM to make their case. GG is right in saying that most establishment DC types wouldn't typically poke the incoming administration and risk their careers... and yet here we are seeing that very thing play out day in and day out in the form of "anonymous" sources from CIA and other agencies. There's nothing typical about this situation.

The question we should be asking is why... But that's not a question most people even know to ask because the MSM/CIA are hellbent on keeping the focus on Russia and Russia alone.

Is it just because we've passed the point of no return in terms of putting party over country? Have we radicalized ourselves to such an extent that even the members of the IC are unable to separate politics from their job of keeping the nation secure? Could be. We've seen the IRS become a political tool, and certainly CIA has been wielded as a political tool many times in its history.

This could be our new normal -- not just the general population but for the officers of the intelligence community as well.

Or...

The establishment in DC and the Intelligence community expected HRC to win. It wasn't until about two days out from the election when things took a dramatic turn in terms of the establishment's expectations. The establishment within CIA and NSA had been preparing for Clinton to escalate our efforts in both Syria and Eastern Europe. Plans were in motion for weeks before the election, including new deployments of contractors and assets in those theaters only to have the rug pulled out from under them at the eleventh hour. This pissed a lot of people off while other folks within the same agencies saw it as a victory.

So now you have an incoming president elect who ran on a platform slamming the neocon establishment wing of CIA for its regime change ethos and who will most likely attempt to purge Langley of any and all officers who were actively working against him on the campaign (of which there were many) and those who believe regime change is still the best way to approach geopolitcal problems (of which there are even more).

These are men and women who have been entrenched in the IC for decades -- they won't, and obviously aren't, going to go quietly. They had been executing a playbook against the Russians in the MSM for three years and counting before the election to prepare the population for this "new" enemy, they already had the MSM pump primed as it were. That they would chose to run that particular flag up the pole isn't all that creative or unexpected.

Unless you're unaware that there is discord between numerous factions within our own intelligence community.

Or...

It's the Russians.

Or...

It's a combination of all three.

Whatever the answer, the next step should be an examination of the evidence absent of the political rhetoric.

Once they do that even the media would start connecting the dots to the Seth Rich murder.

Certainly a big reason not to say anything, I agree.

Because they live in their own little bubble? And to admit that someone went outside the bubble would break the bubble they live in, and the integrity of the bubble must be protected?

The DNC is getting as bad as Scientology.

Absolutely.

There are plenty of compelling reasons why the DNC/Clintonites/Neocons would rather pin it on Putin than a leak from the inside.

By the way, what does it say that the DNC ignored warnings from the FBI that they were being hacked because they didn’t believe the calls were real?

ANOTHER UPDATE: Ouch.

This is the right response. The Dems are trying to distract from what was revealed with ginned-up outrage about how the information was obtained.

Meanwhile, if Trump had lost the election because damning RNC secrets showed up on Wikileaks, Obama would be making patronizing remarks about how they needed to learn to play in the big leagues, and Jon Stewart would be mocking Trump’s password skills.

The only outrage that’s not ginned up is their outrage at losing, which stems from a sense of entitlement.

19 more to go.

If I were part of the Texas delegation I would forward the motion to recess until every other state has voted. At that point neither candidate would have the requisite 270 and Texas could give the rest of America a friendly Don't Mess With Texas before casting the deciding votes
