Mike in Horseheads Posted November 24, 2016 Posted November 24, 2016 Hey... Looks like I've been officially made a identity theft victim. Over the past few weeks I got letters from places they needed more info for an account I was opening. I called each one back and they said they would mark it as fraud. I got a Capital One card in the mail last weekend and just thought it was a come on. Yesterday Capital One sent me a letter saying they needed more info or everything would be moved to my checking account (which I don't have) . So I called and of course ended up in fraud. They said they were closing my accounts as fraud and shipped me to Trans Union. Trans Union looked at my credit report and said there is no activity but that all credit bureaus would be notified and put me on a alert list and nothing would be approved unless I verified it over the phone. Scary ****! ...I guess I'm a idiot (DC Tom) for not doing something sooner but not sure what more I could have done. So be vigilant fellow Bills fans!
Saxum Posted November 24, 2016 Posted November 24, 2016 Yes I had that happen to me. Data was stolen from government agency and used but it was clamped down quickly. Love how 'public trust' information is hacked into and shared.
