Mister Defense Posted November 19, 2016 Posted November 19, 2016 Leaving for the weekend and just tried to set the DVR. But I see no signs of the Bills bengals game on local TV! I just checked again, on NFL.com's schedule, and it's likely because the game is to be on Fox and the giants are playing. But why the heck are two AFC teams scheduled for Fox? What am I missing here? Is the game definitely not on in this area?
gflande1 Posted November 19, 2016 Posted November 19, 2016 (edited) The "cross flex" mechanism will serve a similar purpose. Select games can be flexed between CBS and FOX. In the past, a game with two NFC teams had to be on FOX and a game with two AFC teams had to be on CBS. Now, the league can theoretically move an all-NFC game to CBS or an all-AFC game to FOX in select cases. This will help balance out the television schedule, especially in a week where one network has all the most intriguing games. http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap2000000343369/article/2014-nfl-schedule-flex-games-can-now-start-in-week-5 Looks like new NFL flexing rules allows the NFL to show games on either network. Currently Syracuse CBS feed is showing Baltimore-Dallas, Fox channel will be showing the Giants-Chicago game. That was a decision made by Fox 68 WSYT based upon popularity and overall record of the Giants vs Bills in CNY. http://www.syracuse.com/axeman/index.ssf/2016/11/fox_68_in_syracuse_will_broadcast_giants-bears_over_bills-bengals.html Guess Buffalo Wild Wings for me! BarleyNY Posted November 19, 2016 Posted November 19, 2016 http://www.miamiherald.com/sports/spt-columns-blogs/barry-jackson/article114718228.html Was curious and eventually found the above info. The NFL "cross flexes" some games between affiliates to help the networks show better double headers. Looks like you got boned so CBS could show Philly-Seattle to most of the country. Here's the coverage map: http://506sports.com/nfl.php?yr=2016&wk=11

Johnny Hammersticks Posted November 19, 2016 Posted November 19, 2016 The game isn't being shown here in Auburn (20 min west of Syracuse) on either network. I am home for a wedding, and was planning on having some friends over for the game. Drats!!
D. L. Hot-Flamethrower Posted November 19, 2016 Posted November 19, 2016 The question I have is if the NFL can flex to either network, why the hell is Baltimore-Dallas on?
Johnny Hammersticks Posted November 19, 2016 Posted November 19, 2016 The question I have is if the NFL can flex to either network, why the hell is Baltimore-Dallas on? Dallas is "americas team" and they're winning. I can't believe they're not showing the Bills in Syracuse. Unreal.

PearlHowardman Posted November 19, 2016 Posted November 19, 2016 The way the NFL defines flex scheduling with broadcast networks,a Buffalo Bills home game might not be broadcast in Buffalo. Still, there's easily more Bills fans here in Syracuse, than NJ Giants fans. Here's a poll that proves that: http://www.syracuse.com/axeman/index.ssf/2015/10/is_syracuse_a_bills_or_a_giants_town_hint_its_neither.html
Mike in Horseheads Posted November 19, 2016 Posted November 19, 2016 According to the guide down here, Raven Cowboys is on CBS and Bills Bengals is on Fox at 1.

jaclynrea21 Posted November 20, 2016 Posted November 20, 2016 Another reason the NFL is loosing on why tv ratings are down... The commissioner sucks
D. L. Hot-Flamethrower Posted November 20, 2016 Posted November 20, 2016 Yeah, Dallas has the best record in the NFL in case you missed that. Yeah I must have missed it because I could give 2 big ones about Dallas.
PearlHowardman Posted November 20, 2016 Posted November 20, 2016 BTW: The local Syracuse news has the best coverage of the Buffalo Bills. Matthew Fairburn, Brent Axe, etc. Even better than Buffalo and Rochester.
Mister Defense Posted November 20, 2016 Author Posted November 20, 2016 A bunch of BS, no Bills in Syracuse! But thanks for the info.
87168 Posted November 20, 2016 Posted November 20, 2016 Yeah I must have missed it because I could give 2 big ones about Dallas. but most NFL fans do. Dallas has the best record, prescott v romo story, comeback games. they're a fun team to watch right now. can't blame the NFL for knowing that.
Beef Jerky Posted November 20, 2016 Posted November 20, 2016 The question I have is if the NFL can flex to either network, why the hell is Baltimore-Dallas on? Why wouldn't it be on... Two teams leading their divisions.
