Fan in San Diego Posted November 10, 2016 Posted November 10, 2016 I heard San Diego is building a stadium anyway and making Mexico pay for it. Good one. I voted for it since it was a tax on hotel rooms. But Spanos does not deserve to own a team. He should pay for the stadium himself. What business owner asks the government or local people to pay for a new building for a place to run my company? That's bull ****! The Chargers can leave, don't let the door hit ya on the way out Spanos!

LOL Regarding New Era, a friend of mine tied into major building structure in WNY tells me that the stadium has some huge pending infrastructure problems looming and that in as little as 10 years the stadium's structure will be compromised. All about the concrete and re-bar deterioration. Maybe...........

Qualcomm is the biggest piece of **** in the league, New Era was built around the same time but the renovations make a world of difference. Comic Con Vegas sounds good.

DriveFor1Outta5 Posted November 11, 2016 Posted November 11, 2016 Let's face it, here in San Diego Chargers fans are not passionate... they would rather walk their dog, hike, shop, run, swim, whatever. YET, the $2 increase in cigarettes passed. The .10 per bag tax on plastic bags passed. Worried about more taxes, NOPE. This is not the place for a blue collar football base. It's quite pathetic, really. I cannot wait to leave this place next year. You say all they want to do is hike, walk, run, and swim, I guess a $2 increase in ciagarettes makes total sense in that case. Joking aside I think San Diego will be fine without a team. I feel incredibly sorry for any city that loses a team, but they will be fine. Great weather coupled with general disinterest is not a good mix. That's why I don't understand potentially putting another team in LA. Although LA is much larger they are similar to San Diego as far as interest in pro football goes.

I'm surprised more people aren't talking about the Raiders move to Vegas. The Raiders could very well make it to the super bowl and then the next day pack up and leave town!

If they decided against it, then the Raiders could look at LA. With Nevada committing money towards a Vegas stadium for the Raiders, they're likely going there as long as the NFL owners approve it. Latest I heard though is the casino owner (Sheldon?) involved is getting greedy and wants a casino attached to the stadium. I don't know if that'll fly with the owners. Glad we don't have to worry about this now. There are owners who own major stakes in Daily Fantasy Football gambling sites. You think they'll care about having a casino attached to the building? I'd be surprised if there weren't a sports book at the 50 yard line with all the owners getting a cut via revenue sharing. They started breaking ground on the new stadium in LA. BillnutinHouston Posted December 2, 2016 Posted December 2, 2016 The right answer in WNY is to put an air supported dome over New Era field....problem solved.....except, of course, the NFL's desire to jack up revenue to extract maximum revenue from the fans. And, if a mega snow storm hits again like before the Jets game a couple of years ago, we have to shut down the game because the emergency needs of the community outweigh the playing of the game...another trip to Detroit, then. The dome will not guarantee playability of games during major snow events....the infrastructure can't stand the big snow either, even if the stadium could. (And, downtown, it would be even worse than in OP with to few roads in and out) What are YOU defining as the "problem" to be solved? Because i don't think the dome idea solves any of the issues the NFL sees as problems.
