EasternOHBillsFan Posted November 9, 2016 Posted November 9, 2016 i have family there. Do you think if they had made it a county vote rather than just a city vote it would have passed? Lots of fans who live in San Diego County couldn't vote if outside the city limits. Probably not... the areas outside the city (I live in Santee) would tend to be more unlikely to vote yes for a stadium. I am quite shocked whenever the Chargers are on and I run into so many people when I'm getting lunch or dinner who have Chargers paraphernalia on their vehicles or are wearing Chargers apparel. I cannot leave my house when the Bills are on... it's insane.

I'm a diehard Reds fan in Rochester. Go to GABP every summer and can tell you every player w/stats since 1984. 😁

Reds run that town and Bengals are second fiddle. And all the Reds fans I know are like you - they know everything about every player. Edited November 10, 2016 by YoloinOhio
#34fan Posted November 10, 2016 Posted November 10, 2016 Sad that the Bolts are most likely going to join the Rams in L.A. Bolts aren't leaving SD... They'll settle for a new stadium built at the current location... (Qualcomm)

Could never figure that one out.

EasternOHBillsFan Posted November 10, 2016 Posted November 10, 2016 Bolts aren't leaving SD... They'll settle for a new stadium built at the current location... (Qualcomm) Not happening. Once the Raiders move to Las Vegas, the Chargers are going to L.A., period. The only thing keeping the Chargers here is if the Raiders balk.
YoloinOhio Posted November 10, 2016 Posted November 10, 2016 Qualcomm is half full for most games. I swear it always sounds like they have more fans for the other team. Probably a destination road game for the opposing fans.
Tenhigh Posted November 10, 2016 Posted November 10, 2016 The proposition was for an additional hotel tax, such that local San Diegans would not foot the bill for the stadium. There's already a 10.5% "transient occupancy" tax on hotel rooms in San Diego. The measure would've increased the tax by 6% to 16.5%.... which would hurt the tourism industry. If you can afford to vacation in San Diego you probably wouldn't notice $20/night for a hotel room. Not saying I agree with it, but $20/night? Meh...
Mark Vader Posted November 10, 2016 Posted November 10, 2016 Not happening. Once the Raiders move to Las Vegas, the Chargers are going to L.A., period. The only thing keeping the Chargers here is if the Raiders balk. What if the Chargers move to Oakland?
Helpmenow Posted November 10, 2016 Posted November 10, 2016 Let's face it, here in San Diego Chargers fans are not passionate... they would rather walk their dog, hike, shop, run, swim, whatever. YET, the $2 increase in cigarettes passed. The .10 per bag tax on plastic bags passed. Worried about more taxes, NOPE. This is not the place for a blue collar football base. It's quite pathetic, really. I cannot wait to leave this place next year. Transplants from all over don't help
YoloinOhio Posted November 10, 2016 Posted November 10, 2016 Transplants from all over don't helpmilitary/transient residents with the naval presence
Helpmenow Posted November 10, 2016 Posted November 10, 2016 military/transient residents with the naval presence I lived out there for six years. Everybody who moves out there roots for their hometown team not so much for the chargers
BobbyC81 Posted November 10, 2016 Posted November 10, 2016 Qualcomm is half full for most games. I swear it always sounds like they have more fans for the other team. Probably a destination road game for the opposing fans. I recall reading that it was setup just the opposite. The Chargers have dibs on joining the Rams in LA. If they decided against it, then the Raiders could look at LA. With Nevada committing money towards a Vegas stadium for the Raiders, they're likely going there as long as the NFL owners approve it. Latest I heard though is the casino owner (Sheldon?) involved is getting greedy and wants a casino attached to the stadium. I don't know if that'll fly with the owners. Glad we don't have to worry about this now.
Just Jack Posted November 10, 2016 Posted November 10, 2016 The right answer in WNY is to put an air supported dome over New Era field....problem solved..... No, air supported roofs have issues with snow, that's why newer indoor stadiums use solid roofs. Even the Carrier Dome is switching to a solid roof in the next few years. http://www.syracuse.com/news/index.ssf/2010/12/manager_of_syracuses_carrier_d.html
8-8 Forever? Posted November 10, 2016 Posted November 10, 2016 Our turn is coming. I got to say, popular buy-in is not there outside of diehard Bills fans. Going to be a tough sell especially if it goes to vote yep. but not for awhile. tough sell indeed. WNY demographically and fiscally is a lot like San Diego county. Just stay at the Ralph. Keep updating it. Lambeau field it forever.

Without a gym yet, they put an air dome over a parking lot, where we played intramural basketball and floor hockey. A big snow storm took care of that as one of the baskets was seen protruding thri a snow drift.
87168 Posted November 10, 2016 Posted November 10, 2016 Good. All cities should do the same. precisely.
PromoTheRobot Posted November 10, 2016 Posted November 10, 2016 I heard San Diego is building a stadium anyway and making Mexico pay for it.
