Dirtbag Posted November 8, 2016 Posted November 8, 2016 not sure if anyone picked up on this before, but apparently seattle's fans are referred to as the "12th man." this is because they can be very loud and disruptive when the opposing offense is on the field. since teams are only allowed to have 11 players on the field at the same time, this points to how important the fans are to the team (they are essentially a "12th man"). hopefully, the announcers pick up on this fact during the game and update us as to the loudness of the crowd!
r00tabaga Posted November 8, 2016 Posted November 8, 2016 (edited) Never heard this. New to me. I see you there 😉 Edited November 8, 2016 by r00tabaga
MAJBobby Posted November 8, 2016 Posted November 8, 2016 (edited) So like every NFL fan base. Imagine Bills fans in the 90s how loud it would have been at Rich Stadium if it was designed to amplify sound like the Link is. So would they be that loud if the Stadium wasn't designed to amplify sound? Edited November 8, 2016 by MAJBobby
r00tabaga Posted November 8, 2016 Posted November 8, 2016 So like every NFL fan base. Imagine Bills fans in the 90s how loud it would have been at Rich Stadium if it was designed to amplify sound like the Link is. So would they be that loud if the Stadium wasn't designed to amplify sound? Reuben Brown said this week that loud, louder & loudest stadiums are all the same. You can't hear at any field.
Dirtbag Posted November 8, 2016 Author Posted November 8, 2016 Reuben Brown said this week that loud, louder & loudest stadiums are all the same. You can't hear at any field. disagree. in seattle, they're called the "12th man."
LeGOATski Posted November 8, 2016 Posted November 8, 2016 disagree. in seattle, they're called the "12th man." Wow! Those fans must be the best in the league.
Dirtbag Posted November 8, 2016 Author Posted November 8, 2016 Wow! Those fans must be the best in the league. yeah, exactly -- it's like having a 12th man on the field (even though you're only allowed to have 11)!
Captain_Quint Posted November 8, 2016 Posted November 8, 2016 Im hearing rumblings that the decible meter will be out tonight. This is gonna be huge.
Dragonborn10 Posted November 8, 2016 Posted November 8, 2016 The fans call themselves "12's" Seattle radio guys say there are lota,of Bills fans there so maybe, not as loud as usual
Marty McFly Posted November 8, 2016 Posted November 8, 2016 I wonder where those 12s were during the 90s
B-Man Posted November 8, 2016 Posted November 8, 2016 http://12thman.tamu.edu/ 1930 Aggie Band Spells12th Man As the spirit of the 12th Man is embraced by the Texas A&M student body, references to the tradition begin appearing around campus, including this formation by the Fightin' Texas Aggie Band.
Just Jack Posted November 8, 2016 Posted November 8, 2016 So does that mean other teams fans are only the 11.5 Man?
apuszczalowski Posted November 8, 2016 Posted November 8, 2016 yeah, exactly -- it's like having a 12th man on the field (even though you're only allowed to have 11)!so should they not be awarded a penAlty for having too many on the field? Is the NFL not aware of what is going on here? Are we looking at "12th man gate"?
Chef Jim Posted November 8, 2016 Posted November 8, 2016 http://12thman.tamu.edu/ 1930 Aggie Band Spells12th Man As the spirit of the 12th Man is embraced by the Texas A&M student body, references to the tradition begin appearing around campus, including this formation by the Fightin' Texas Aggie Band. How is this possible? Did some Seattle fan invent a time machine?
Hammered a Lot Posted November 8, 2016 Posted November 8, 2016 The 12th man Tonight was the ref letting R Sherman PF our kicker
YoloinOhio Posted November 8, 2016 Posted November 8, 2016 I think we all know who their 12th man was tonight. Walt !@#$ing Anderson.
Benjamin Franklin Posted November 8, 2016 Posted November 8, 2016 The 12th man Tonight was the ref letting R Sherman PF our kicker I am substituting a lot of words for PF here.
djp14150 Posted November 8, 2016 Posted November 8, 2016 Seattle fans have been know as the 12 man for quite a while. Actually Texas A&M trademarked the name so Seattle has to pay n annuala fee to be able to use it.
