I have no issue with him playing on ST, since Shaq is playing now. ST needs him, and he can share defensive snaps with Shaq.

please no more special teams

I've been saying this since about game 3. It will just wear him down faster during a game when he's more valuable on defense and exposes him to more chances to get injured. Not worth it.

BTW, how is he doing? Will he be able to play on MNF?

He said he is fine and should play, but we will see if he practices next 3 days. I don't expect him to be out there today (their normal Wednesday) but hoping he is at least limited tomorrow and/or Saturday.

The AFC Defensive Player of the Month goes to the unlikeliest of heroes. Bills pass-rusher Lorenzo Alexander tallied six sacks in five games for Buffalo, to go along with two passes defensed and a forced fumble. The 33-year old Alexander entered the league as a tight end in 2007 and had never tallied more than 2.5 sacks in a single season before joining Buffalo this year. He's been a true Cinderella story in Buffalo and as much of a reason as any that they're fighting for a playoff spot.

Nice. Great deal of respect for both players.

The Bills are a mess right now. That is a given. We have very little idea if we have a solid roster to be in the playoffs, a solid HC who can lead us to the playoffs, a solid GM who can build and maintain a top tier roster, a solid franchise QB, a solid defense, etc. You can have your solid opinions but no one really knows the answer to those questions. And even if a few years from now one of your solid beliefs turns out to be true, you still didn't know, you only thought.

All that said, whether you like Whaley or not, or like the Bills scouting department or not, or like Rex and his defense or not, what has transpired with Lorax virtually never happens. It's not even a fluke if you watch the actual plays over eight games. If this guy was a 1 or 2 or 3 or 4 or 5 or 6 or 7th round pick it would be a heroic draft regardless of the other players.

To sign a guy to a small contract who plays at not only an elite level but leads the league in sacks, has a bunch of pressures and tackles for loss, isn't taking himself out of plays against the run to only rush the passer but also stays home (for the most part) against the run... AND is one of the very best ST players in the league even if you watch him close (even more so) and not just on his reputation is an ENORMOUS accomplishment for a GM. It's almost unheard of.

Sure there was some luck involved. But Lorax alone makes Whaley and his team of scouts, whose job it is is to get players to excel in the team's coaches system alongside the team's other players, in the top of the league.

It doesn't matter where you find players. Every great GM finds guys in all of the available ways, between the draft and UDFA and street FA and waiver wire and re-signing your own guys and trades. It doesn't matter where you get them you have to get a certain amount of blue chip players, very good players, good players, role players and cogs.

It's arguable that alongside Dak and maybe Seiman (although I don't think so), Lorax was the best acquisition considering money and resources spent against production in the entire league. Whaley gets credit for that.

well said! Ross Tucker was interviewed yesterday on murph's show and he mentioned that he played with Lorax when he was with the redskins and he was a 300 lb OG who had bounced around and just trying to make different teams at any position, including TE. He said it was one of the craziest NFL stories ever that now in his mid 30s he is leading the league in sacks as a OLB. Edited by YoloinOhio
