Yes, the interviews are scheduled, but all guests know coming in that there are no off-limits areas of questioning -- it's why celebs routinely declined Stern show interview requests in the 90s and early 2000s. Give me one example of what you believe was a "staged" revelation by a celeb during a Stern interview. I'm just busting your eballs. But seriously ... don't you think that the uptick in celebrities agreeing to be interviewed by Stern would point to possibly having rehearsed or, at the very least, previously agreed-upon questions? No, I think they're seeing that the celebs who do interviews with Stern see a bump in whatever project they're promoting and enhanced "buzz"... But to your point, without Howard, I would have had ZERO(point)ZERO interest in listening to Lady Gaga, his first interview with her absolutely blew me away and I now see her in a completely different light. What he got away with in the 90s gets three blocks of protesters for three weeks today that make delicate radio executives anxious. The big deal about what Trump said on the bus with Bush was PG rated compared to what Stern said and did in the 90s. Stern was also famous for his access to popular adult film stars. Back in the 90s, pre-Internet, that was a draw.
