Next man up?
The Jared Goff watch is in full bloom in Los Angeles. The rookie quarterback took first-team reps in the Rams' final practice of the bye week Wednesday. Is L.A. ready to switch QBs?

One week after NFL Network's Steve Wyche reported that the No. 1 overall pick in the 2016 draft would begin seeing increased practice reps, the Los Angeles Rams provided a strong hint that Goff will soon displace Case Keenum in the starting lineup.

Goff took first-team practice reps in the Rams' final practice of the bye week Wednesday, per Gary Klein of the Los Angeles Times.

Their OL situation and lack of a better organizational plan makes me think of David Carr with the Texans. I almost feel this guy is destined to fail.

He doesn't have the physical stature to withstand much punishment. If he takes the reins, it could indeed get ugly.

Exactly! The problem has not been Case - he's actually played pretty good considering. Goff will do worse, at least this year.

When I have a guy as high on my board as I had Goff and he's not playing, it makes me wonder if I screwed up my assessment.

From what I've heard, it sounds like the biggest issue was picking up the new verbiage. Having heard Goff talk football before, he didn't strike me as a guy with bad recall. It leaves you wondering if his tutors might be failing him. With Jeff Fisher at the helm, I wouldn't rule it out.

Frustrating that he's not playing but it might be a godsend for Jared in the long run. Need a heavy investment at OL next season.

I live in LA, looks like the kid has never huddled (HS or collage). He was a turn over machine in collage. Rams should fire GM Snead he passed on Wentz (goodbye)

And the even crazier thing is the fact they gave him a 3 year extension. Wtf?

Miami just got as big a gift as they could be handed in an NFL game. Keenum is not the answer either but probably would have made enough plays in the passing game to keep Miami off balance...

The Fish will scheme against the rookie and make his life miserable.

Neither did Mariota and he's doing fine. Case was terrible so it's hard to be a downgrade.

I do agree Snead has done a bad job. Their WRs are terrible and a lot of busts (Greg Robinson). But I think the Rams are worried about hurting people's feelings so they aren't allowed to fire people.

only good thing is the LA fan base really wanted Goff so I think they will show up and really support him. I think Miami looks like the better team overall but the LT Branden Albert is probably out which could be bad vs Rams . Edited by YoloinOhio

from what i remember about him is he crushed the bad teams but could never win a big game. but looking at stats he was pretty safe with the ball.

So you're saying he just pieced the plays together in a random way?

More like cut and pasted together random plays but at the end of the game there was a discernible pattern.

I think just from hard knocks he seemed to lack was a confidence in his demeanour. Some guys just don't have that naturally. I agree on tape he looked good but that confidence, aura and natural leadership is hard to really judge from college games. That seems to be what he lacks.
