Nihilarian Posted October 23, 2016 Posted October 23, 2016 If I'm not mistaken the league outlawed that shoulder hit to the head back in the 50's when a Cardinals player was knocking players out with vicious hits. Can't recall the name. That hit is a fine or suspension IMO.
MAJBobby Posted October 23, 2016 Posted October 23, 2016 Correct. It was a clear intent to injure. Doesn't matter that he led with the shoulder. Remember Burfict's cheap shot on Antonio Brown last year? He led with the shoulder, too. Post the rule i am looking for it cant find it
Mark Vader Posted October 23, 2016 Posted October 23, 2016 Sorry it was a clean hit. Led with his shoulder should not have even been flagged Landry wasn't flagged for that hit.
mannc Posted October 23, 2016 Posted October 23, 2016 Post the rule i am looking for it cant find itHow about this--You show me the rule that says it can't be unnecesssary roughness if the guy leads with his shoulder, okay?
26CornerBlitz Posted October 23, 2016 Posted October 23, 2016 Post the rule i am looking for it cant find it It's the Hines Ward rule.
jr1 Posted October 23, 2016 Posted October 23, 2016 They probably figure in past incidents for the fine/suspension. Does anyone remember if he's done something like this before?
Nervous Guy Posted October 23, 2016 Posted October 23, 2016 Landry wasn't flagged for that hit. he most certainly was
26CornerBlitz Posted October 23, 2016 Posted October 23, 2016 Landry wasn't flagged for that hit. A 15 yard flag!
Fixxxer Posted October 23, 2016 Posted October 23, 2016 there were two flags on the play, I don't remember which penalty counted officialy.
MAJBobby Posted October 23, 2016 Posted October 23, 2016 It's the Hines Ward rule. The NFL today approved four new rules that focus on player safety, including the so-called Hines Ward Rule that affects blocking tactics. The blocking rule makes illegal a blindside block if it comes from the blocker's helmet, forearm or shoulder and lands to the head or neck area of the defender. Thanks. It does have shoulder OK for somereasob everything else i was reading didnt say shoulder just helmet. Now i see why it was flagged. It will bring a fine no suspension though.
Dragonborn10 Posted October 23, 2016 Posted October 23, 2016 Yes he should but he won't. It will be a small to medium fine. The only way to protect the players is ejection and suspension.
MAJBobby Posted October 23, 2016 Posted October 23, 2016 Yes he should but he won't. It will be a small to medium fine. The only way to protect the players is ejection and suspension. He is not a repeat offender like Burfict and such so until he hits that status will be flagged and fined
Mark Vader Posted October 23, 2016 Posted October 23, 2016 (edited) he most certainly was A 15 yard flag! there were two flags on the play, I don't remember which penalty counted officialy. Didn't the officials call a holding penalty and a chop block penalty on that play? Edited October 23, 2016 by Mark Vader
vincec Posted October 23, 2016 Posted October 23, 2016 He will get fined, but unless he has a previous history of this I doubt he will be suspended.
26CornerBlitz Posted October 23, 2016 Posted October 23, 2016 Clean hit. Next question Wrong! Know the rules!
NoSaint Posted October 23, 2016 Posted October 23, 2016 @MatthewFairburn Eric Wood said he's interested to see how much Jarvis Landry gets fined for hit on Williams. Hopes it's more than guys get for dancing. Both penalties are negotiated flat rates by the league. Unless they declare it way outside of normal play wood should be able to recite the dollar amounts right now
l< j Posted October 23, 2016 Posted October 23, 2016 He didn't need to do that to prevent AW from making a play. R Woods, whose blocking everyone looks to as the way a WR goes about things, never looks to take the other team's players out of the game, just out of the play. It was dirty. kj
Fixxxer Posted October 23, 2016 Posted October 23, 2016 Didn't the officials call a holding penalty and a chop block penalty on that play? (6:13) 79-S.Young reported in as eligible. 23-J.Ajayi left end to BUF 5 for 6 yards (20-C.Graham). BUF-23-A.Williams was injured during the play. He is Out. PENALTY on MIA-67-L.Tunsil, Offensive Holding, 10 yards, enforced at BUF 11 - No Play. Penalty on MIA-14-J.Landry, Unnecessary Roughness, declined. http://www.nfl.com/gamecenter/2016102305/2016/REG7/bills@dolphins#menu=gameinfo%7CcontentId%3A0ap3000000726287&tab=analyze&analyze=playbyplay
stinky finger Posted October 23, 2016 Posted October 23, 2016 (edited) and yet only one is in an ambulance trying to remember his own name. What's your point? There was a time this hit was applauded - by everyone. Edited October 23, 2016 by billsoverdue
