"Bupkiss" was the name of a song that comedy writer Rob Petrie (Dick Van Dyke) had written with an old Army Buddy. When it became a hit, Rob confronted his ex-friend to fight over authorship rights. The song "Bupkiss" was penned by writers Bill Perksy and Sam Denoff and recorded for the show by pop singers Dick and Dee Dee. Bupkiss is a Yiddish term for "nothing." also spelled "bubkes."
