CircleTheWagons Posted February 24, 2005 Posted February 24, 2005 That was a huge game, a playoff game, and he screwed the pooch.251695 That's what I will always remember the Bledsoe years for - coming out flat in the big games, starting with that 2003 disaster down in Miami in Week 3.
obie_wan Posted February 25, 2005 Posted February 25, 2005 No matter what public comments were made from any corner, I think the simple fact was if the Bills won against Pittsburgh, Bledsoe stays, and if they lost, which they did, Bledsoe goes. He had a chance, a good chance, to prove his worth and leadership and salary. That was a huge game, a playoff game, and he screwed the pooch. There wasn't any more chances or questions for him. TD wouldn't have to prove it to the team, or the vets, or the ownership, or the fans, or potential free agents. It was plain to see that now was a good time to get rid of Drew. DB blew it himself. If he wins that game, whether it was due to the defense or special teams or Willis or weather, it really wouldn't matter. The Bills would have been in the playoffs, on a 9-1 run, and it would be easy to imagine DB quarterbacking the Bills next year. But he laid an egg and he doesn't deserve it. That said, how is it possible that the Tuna is a supergenius (according to most everyone here) and Bledsoe is terrible (also according to most everyone here) and the Tuna wants Bledsoe (which has just been proven by the immediate signing and salary). Either the Tuna is no longer a supergenius (so what happened to him?) or Bledsoe doesn't suck. They both cannot be concurrently true. 251695 Bellicek is the super-genius. Parcells is a fat old man relying on fading, name players to try to save his reputation.

These guys were not only brilliant but they were the real buffer between a personalityless, cold coach and his players. That's going to count for something. Like 4 to 5 less wins, maybe.
