hondo in seattle Posted December 19, 2016 Posted December 19, 2016 538 now has the Bills chances at 1%! What chance did 538 give us when we were losing to Houston 35-3?
Jamie Nails Posted December 19, 2016 Posted December 19, 2016 I am so torn right now. Want to see us keep winning, knock the fish out etc. also don't want to finish a meaningless 9-7 and end up with continuity for the sake of being "so close"

Want to see us keep winning, knock the fish out etc. also don't want to finish a meaningless 9-7 and end up with continuity for the sake of being "so close" You know that's what'll happen. And then next year, when we're in the vicinity of 8-8 YET AGAIN, we'll hear the same refrains from the continuity crowd. Wins like this cripple the franchise over the long term.

Wonder if the Cowboys are wishing they fired Jason Garrett after all those 8-8 finishes to start his career? Yeah...probably not.
Pine Barrens Mafia Posted December 19, 2016 Posted December 19, 2016 Wonder if the Cowboys are wishing they fired Jason Garrett after all those 8-8 finishes to start his career? Yeah...probably not. Right, because this franchise is a PERFECT analog for the Cowboys.
26CornerBlitz Posted December 19, 2016 Author Posted December 19, 2016 @MatthewFairburn The Bills are still alive. Here's what has to happen the next two weeks for them to make the playoffs: http://trib.al/WnogF30
MDH Posted December 19, 2016 Posted December 19, 2016 @MatthewFairburn The Bills are still alive. Here's what has to happen the next two weeks for them to make the playoffs: http://trib.al/WnogF30 That's not completely right. The Bills don't need the Titans to lose this week, they need either the Titans or Texans to lose. The best chance of that happening is the Bengals beating Houston. IF that happened, the following week the Bills would need the Titans to beat the Texans. Oddly enough, even if all that happens the Bills still need the Patriots to beat the Jets next week as that puts the Bills over the top in terms of strength of victory tiebreakers.

You're never in a good spot when you need the Jaguars to beat the Titans on the road with Doug Marrone as the head coach.
dubs Posted December 19, 2016 Posted December 19, 2016 @MatthewFairburn The Bills are still alive. Here's what has to happen the next two weeks for them to make the playoffs: http://trib.al/WnogF30 I was looking for what the exact scenario was, thanks. When I put this in the playoff simulator on ESPN, it didn't work though. It still had Miami getting in as the 9-7 team, only tied with the Bills at 9-7. Head to head would be a wash, obviously. I think division and conference records would be the same (3-3, 6-6). Maybe ESPN is wrong
boco357 Posted December 19, 2016 Posted December 19, 2016 You know what its a big long shot but maybe to end this obscene streak you need the lowest odds possible like '04 Red Sox or Cubs this year down 3-1.
dpberr Posted December 19, 2016 Posted December 19, 2016 It'd be fitting that not only do the Bills make the playoffs but then go out and win the Wild Card game - with a coach, front office and QB the majority of the fan base don't want around next year. That'd be some spectacular irony. IMO, the help that the Bills need isn't completely mission impossible. None of those games are on the level of asking the Jags to beat the Patriots in snowy Foxboro absurdity.

They are at home, and just got an upgrade at HC. But the Titans still have a lot to play for and the Jags are already long out of the playoffs. That is a tough one to see as a win for the Jags.

BUT, the head coaching change just might be that added motivation/change that the Jags need to get them over the hump vs. a division rival.

Ironically, the Bills beating Miami might be the second toughest ask. That and the combined ask of all the factors going right. Bills effed it up with the losses at Miami when winning, the gross showing in Baltimore, losing to the Jets, and imploding against the Raiders. Also not stuffing it in against the Seahawks. Chances were definitely there. Edited December 19, 2016 by dubs
Wayne Cubed Posted December 19, 2016 Posted December 19, 2016 So this gets the Bills in 100%: Week 16: Bills over Dolphins Steelers over Ravens Raiders over Colts Pats** over Jest Bengals over Texans Week 17: Bills over Jest Bengals over Ravens Patriots over Dolphins Raiders over Broncos Titans over Texans I think the Bengals winning out is the unlikely part
bisonbrigade Posted December 19, 2016 Posted December 19, 2016 Week 16 - Steelers beat the Ravens 21 to 20 - Chiefs beat the Broncos 17 to 10 - Titans beat the Jags 17 to 9 - Raiders beat the Colts 37-31 - Bills beat the Dolphins 27-17 Week 17 - Bengals beat Ravens 23 to 21 - Patriots beat Dolphins 33 to 17 - Titans beat Texans 27 to 7 - Raiders beat Broncos 21 to 17 - Colts beat Jags 31 to 7 Bills beat Jets 22 to 17
RyanC883 Posted December 19, 2016 Posted December 19, 2016 Hey my cousins husband won the Pennsylvania lotto twice. What the odds of doing that? can we get him on the Bills roster!!!?? Wonder if the Cowboys are wishing they fired Jason Garrett after all those 8-8 finishes to start his career? Yeah...probably not. Key difference being Garrett's "start to his career." Rex is pretty much a .500 or slightly above coach. Also, will be interesting if we win out and make the playoffs. Then Rex stays.
26CornerBlitz Posted December 19, 2016 Author Posted December 19, 2016 @JaySkurski It's simple - #Bills win out, BAL and MIA lose out, OAK beats DEN in Week 17, IND loses one, HOU or TEN loses out
RyanC883 Posted December 19, 2016 Posted December 19, 2016 So this gets the Bills in 100%: Week 16: Bills over Dolphins Steelers over Ravens Raiders over Colts Pats** over Jest Bengals over Texans Week 17: Bills over Jest Bengals over Ravens Patriots over Dolphins Raiders over Broncos Titans over Texans I think the Bengals winning out is the unlikely part so why am I reading the Jags need to win something? Do we need the Jags to win anything ?
Wayne Cubed Posted December 19, 2016 Posted December 19, 2016 so why am I reading the Jags need to win something? Do we need the Jags to win anything ? There's a couple ways really. If the Texans beat the Bengals then the Titans have to lose to the Jags.
