Miyagi-Do Karate Posted October 16, 2016 Posted October 16, 2016 The other hilarious commentary by Stockton: Every play that is short of a 1st down, he says: "came up short of a 1st down!" We could have a 8-year carry on 1st down and he still says that, making it seem like a crappy play.
Estelle Getty Posted October 16, 2016 Posted October 16, 2016 If I remember correctly it was Gillie that ran that play. No i know the play your thinking. That was also another missed call
BillsFan130 Posted October 16, 2016 Posted October 16, 2016 They were brutal. It really amazes me how bad announcers are. Is it really that difficult to hire people who can just call the game without making glaring mistakes time after time?
gumby Posted October 16, 2016 Posted October 16, 2016 Dick Stockton used to be a great announcer. But time catches up with even the best.
ALLEN1QB Posted October 16, 2016 Posted October 16, 2016 Lol he was bad. I will still take him over Solomon Wilcox any day
Thrivefourfive Posted October 16, 2016 Posted October 16, 2016 CBS NBA Finals. 6PM PST starts. Boston/LA. It was a great run.
DC Tom Posted October 16, 2016 Posted October 16, 2016 Lol he was bad. I will still take him over Solomon Wilcox any day What, you have some sort of problem with a "Wisdom of Solomon" segment from a guy that can't even pronounce "Bills?"
GunnerBill Posted October 16, 2016 Posted October 16, 2016 What, you have some sort of problem with a "Wisdom of Solomon" segment from a guy that can't even pronounce "Bills?" Go Beels.
BuffalothruMyVeins Posted October 16, 2016 Posted October 16, 2016 I know it wasn't a tight play-by-play, but as someone said earlier, I prefer a very qualified play by play guy with good voice and everything Stockton does well, and willing to deal with the few errors in the mean time. Allows some unexpected entertainment, and if you know anything about football, you're not thrown off by it, or confused. Unlike Wilcots who may not say the wrong word, but is just TERRIBLE to listen to. He is probably in his 70s, so let's not act like he's not still doing very well to converse and play-by-play for 3 hours straight. He was fine...

Try more like 15-20...that is way, way too many. It was like amateur hour.
Jerry Jabber Posted October 16, 2016 Posted October 16, 2016 The worst ever was Dan Dierdorf, I'm so glad he's retired as he was awful calling Bills games.
jethro_tull Posted October 16, 2016 Posted October 16, 2016 i cut him some slack. BFD on the details he is still a good PBP guy IMHO. maybe i am jaded because of late chicago cubs broadcaster harry carray who went (easily) 5 years past when he should have retired. because fans turned him into a legend he was allowed to slobber and drunkenly stumble his way through his last games.

I cut him major slack. He's been good throughout his career. But damn, he looks and sounds his age. He was bad on both details and play-by-play. That's a heavy lift for any listener, especially w/ Dielh by his side.

TakeYouToTasker Posted October 16, 2016 Posted October 16, 2016 I got so sick of his calls that i muted the TV and listened to the radio feed, even though it didn't sync up. It was far, far better that way.
sir andrew Posted October 16, 2016 Posted October 16, 2016 I gotta say I didn't mind Diehl. Always fun to hear what an offensive lineman thinks of Kyle Williams.
Miyagi-Do Karate Posted October 17, 2016 Posted October 17, 2016 I gotta say I didn't mind Diehl. Always fun to hear what an offensive lineman thinks of Kyle Williams. I don't know, man. I felt like he went the entire game and literally said not one thing of substance.
Tierlifer Posted October 17, 2016 Posted October 17, 2016 The worst ever was Dan Dierdorf, I'm so glad he's retired as he was awful calling Bills games. Drink every time he said "Nanosecond" and your BAC would be 3x the legal limit by halftime. Kevin Burkhart and John Lynch are my favorite duo. Of course I am biased as I miss Kevin immensely with his work he did for SNY with Met games.

For fox, I thought Kenny Albert and moose Johnston were outstanding.
