I'm hearing some very good things about "American Pastoral".

"The Birth of A Nation", despite being a festival darling, has gotten a mixed reaction.

Sadly not because of the film though, it's all because of the director/star/writer's rape allegations... which I admit has me conflicted about supporting the film or not myself.

I enjoyed the Accountant. I almost always enjoy Affleck and I also like the guy who was on Walking Dead who played the gruff cop. I find with lots of these movies they have a great premise and start out interesting but somehow can't resist going full formula for the second half of the flick. This one turned into a standard shoot em up. But all in all it had enough going for it for me to recommend.

Yup I also enjoyed this one. It wasn't quite what I expected and exactly what I expected if that makes sense. Good solid entertainment for 2 hours.

A couple of my friends saw the movie and told me that it was good, but thought the festival hype wasn't justified.

They also know some historical facts about Nat Turner, and they did not like the nearly saintly level he is depicted as in this film.

Turner and his followers were extremely brutal. Granted this is not a documentary, but it sounds like you are not getting a thorough depiction.

I still have not seen this movie, and after talking to my friends I think that I shall wait for it on dvd.
