thebandit27 Posted October 4, 2016 Posted October 4, 2016 One nice thing about having a guy like Shaq--at the lowest level of participation, he could simply be put in there as a fresh pass rusher when needed.
26CornerBlitz Posted October 4, 2016 Posted October 4, 2016 One nice thing about having a guy like Shaq--at the lowest level of participation, he could simply be put in there as a fresh pass rusher when needed. They can afford to ease him in without so much pressure on him with Hughes and Alexander playing so well. Nevertheless, it'll be great to see him on the field.
Magox Posted October 4, 2016 Posted October 4, 2016 Yep, it does appear we have the luxury to ease him in. I imagine as mentioned they'll throw him on some passing situations and based on his play either look to increase or decrease his playing time.
bigK14094 Posted October 4, 2016 Posted October 4, 2016 Cameo appearance for a rookie lb who has never played an NFL down....even in preseason. He is not likely to contribute much this season imho. However, if somebody goes down.....in the LB core, then he will get a real shot real quick. It will be interesting to see if Alexander gets benched while leading the team in sacks. (tied anyhow, Hughes has 4 also) Whaley and Ryan have a lot invested in Lawson, and that may get him on the field more, especially if the Bills are out of the race later in the season. We know that Lawson, being one of their picks, will get his shot sooner or later. And, same with Raglund.....and the likely reason that Z Brown will be elsewhere next year. Won't pay big bucks to keep their #2 on the bench.
Miyagi-Do Karate Posted October 4, 2016 Posted October 4, 2016 Agreed. Get him some snaps in the rotation and ease him in. Would love if he could play 10%.
Nanker Posted October 4, 2016 Posted October 4, 2016 One nice thing about having a guy like Shaq--at the lowest level of participation, he could simply be put in there as a fresh pass rusher when needed. Yes. It's called depth.
thebandit27 Posted October 4, 2016 Posted October 4, 2016 Yes. It's called depth. Hmmm...and I've always thought that Rex was somewhat shallow.

Hapless Bills Fan Posted October 4, 2016 Posted October 4, 2016 http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2016/10/04/bills-expect-shaq-lawson-to-play-in-week-seven/ I hope they will take their time. Week 7 as I understand it, is the first time he'll be able to practice with the team. Ease him in. Cameo appearance for a rookie lb who has never played an NFL down....even in preseason. Won't pay big bucks to keep their #2 on the bench. The way Zack Brown is playing they'd be crazy to let him walk. As we found out in preseason, there's always this thing called "season ending injuries" lurking and ready to pounce. Likewise would be crazy to bench Lorax in favor of a rookie who has yet to practice with the team, however talented said rookie may show himself to be.

I think it's entirely possible that they give Zack Brown a new contract and then let Preston Brown walk after 2017, with Ragland replacing him. I also think there's almost no chance that Shaq takes over the starting job until he's good and ready--until then just let him rush the passer and play situationally.

HamSandwhich Posted October 4, 2016 Posted October 4, 2016 I love that he's coming back, but I'm worried he will be a liability with no practice time. Also given the speed is kicked up x1000 vs. college, it's going to be tough sledding for a rookie without any experience what-so-ever.
DasNootz Posted October 4, 2016 Posted October 4, 2016 Haven't the Patriots used this recipe for years?... keep rotating in fresh legs.
aristocrat Posted October 4, 2016 Posted October 4, 2016 We don't know how raglands knee will be when he comes back. we certainly won't know in march when we need to sign z brown. very early now but brown looks like a jerry hughes type pick up. like someone said before it could be preston brown that gets the walk. But if raglands knee doesn't heal on time or he reinjures we always have brown there. 100 percent he's on the team next year. shaq will get plenty of reps and as good as alexander plays what if shaq comes in and out plays him? that's the league.
Rocky Landing Posted October 4, 2016 Posted October 4, 2016 Doesn't someone have to have been here before to be considered, "coming back?" I'm actually a little worried about this. Alexander has been playing lights out.

Won't pay big bucks to keep their #2 on the bench. This is almost completely wrong. Alexander will not get benched the way he is playing. Z. Brown will likely be extended before the end of the year if he keeps playing like he is. Lawson will be rotated in. Players will be fresh. With Brown's speed, you could use him as a third safety monster type. No one is going to let that kind of talent walk when he is showing he is one of the most productive players on the team. Ragland may end up replacing P. Brown eventually. Who knows, but luckily DW knows defense.
BUFFALOTONE Posted October 4, 2016 Posted October 4, 2016 They can afford to ease him in without so much pressure on him with Hughes and Alexander playing so well. Nevertheless, it'll be great to see him on the field. Yes, please do not rush him back. Let him be 100%. This injury was there all of last year and he played the National Title game with it. Not worth taking a chance.
