26CornerBlitz Posted October 2, 2016 Posted October 2, 2016 @RapSheet After #Saints S Jairus Byrd was given nightmares by #Falcons RB Devonta Freeman, Byrd is benched today, sources say. Other changes coming
Peter Posted October 2, 2016 Posted October 2, 2016 (edited) Whaley needs to be fired for not giving Byrd all that money . . . oh wait . . . never mind. Edited October 2, 2016 by Peter
LeGOATski Posted October 2, 2016 Posted October 2, 2016 1 int since leaving he Bills Amazing downfall. He was such a ballhawk. Loved watching him play on the Bills.
Bubba Gump Posted October 2, 2016 Posted October 2, 2016 Rob Ryan ruined him down there. That's gotta be it.
Peter Posted October 2, 2016 Posted October 2, 2016 Rob Ryan ruined him down there. That's gotta be it. Someone will try to make that argument.
qwksilver Posted October 2, 2016 Posted October 2, 2016 Rob Ryan ruined him down there. That's gotta be it. Actually heard it was the other way around. Man it was difficult to type that!
Saxum Posted October 2, 2016 Posted October 2, 2016 Whaley needs to be fired for not giving Byrd all that money . . . oh wait . . . never mind. Fire Yezzus and his clones instead.
Samwell Tarly Posted October 2, 2016 Posted October 2, 2016 Wow, at least the Bills knew enough to let that one walk away. Was it injuries or did he get weighed down by that big check the saints wrote? I seem to remember him having foot problems before he left Buffalo.
C.Biscuit97 Posted October 2, 2016 Posted October 2, 2016 You never know how players will adjust to new systems. He was arguably the best ball hawk I have ever seen the Bills have in my lifetime. But the injuries were a major concern. Either way, that contract was a killer for NO. But he was really good here.
K D Posted October 2, 2016 Posted October 2, 2016 I wonder if we will be saying the same thing about Gilmore after he leaves.
NoSaint Posted October 2, 2016 Posted October 2, 2016 He's had some real bad days. My best guess was that with both starting corners and the other safety out (and no pass rush) that he didn't stand much of a chance but he's been out of position, taken off angles etc.... too
aristocrat Posted October 2, 2016 Posted October 2, 2016 tore his knee up first year...tough injury for some to come back

At the time, it seemed like that could have been a great S combo.
mikemac2001 Posted October 2, 2016 Posted October 2, 2016 Remember we had a bad run defense when he was here He has never been great in coming up in run support
C.Biscuit97 Posted October 2, 2016 Posted October 2, 2016 Remember we had a bad run defense when he was here He has never been great in coming up in run support In a passing league, who cares how great your FS is in run support? His bread and butter was turnovers and big plays. And he's not getting them in NO.
Freddie's Dead Posted October 2, 2016 Posted October 2, 2016 Loved Jairus Byrd while he was here. Yeah, I seddit!
NoSaint Posted October 2, 2016 Posted October 2, 2016 Just curious, how has Kenny Vaccaro been? At the time, it seemed like that could have been a great S combo. I admittedly don't watch him as much. My gut is that he's very talented but when the saints were having some accountability/buy in issues he was on the wrong side of it and contributed to uneven play. That's just gut reaction though. In a passing league, who cares how great your FS is in run support? His bread and butter was turnovers and big plays. And he's not getting them in NO. Yup. And with no pass rush, and no one in the secondary playing well you can just throw away from him and run at him. The ballhawk needs pieces in front to stand a chance.
John from Riverside Posted October 2, 2016 Posted October 2, 2016 Whaley needs to be fired for not giving Byrd all that money . . . oh wait . . . never mind. Yep While we are crucifying Whaley for all the things that have happened that were out of his control......can Whaley get a fistbump for the players he DIDNT throw money at?

I'm a giant Whaley fan but I'm pretty sure we tried to re-sign Byrd.
