MarkAF43 Posted September 25, 2016 Posted September 25, 2016 Can anyone help? Early in the game Floyd bounced the back of his head off the turf and they stopped the game to take him out to check on him. I get that. It makes sense. But can someone explain why toward the end of the game palmer bounced his head off the same way and he wasn't checked on? Doesn't seem consistent to me.

It's the way they react on getting up--all a ref judgment call.

Kelly the Dog Posted September 25, 2016 Posted September 25, 2016 Isn't it not the ref though? I could be wrong but I thought it was the doctors in the booth that buzz down? Doctors are on the sideline. The fact that Palmer just got right up as if nothing happened was the determining factor. I was pretty surprised. It looked like his head smacked pretty hard.

Kelly the Dog Posted September 26, 2016 Posted September 26, 2016 I thought it can be the refs call too. I liked the call. Not as any advantage. But for player safety The Refs decide on the field. Like last week they made Tyrod sit out a play and see the doc on the sideline. Tyrod complained he was fine but EJ came in for a play and then the doc cleared Tyrod immediately so he came right back in. But Tyrod was on his knees collecting his wits. That's why the ref checked him and they will err on the side of caution. Palmer just got up like it was nothing so they didn't check him.

Kelly the Dog Posted September 26, 2016 Posted September 26, 2016 Like i said, I like that the refs can make the call and err on the side of safety !! Yup. Surprisingly, I heard a few weeks ago, that the team doctors decide if a player is okay enough to return to the game, rather than the unbiased neurological doctor on the sideline examining the player. I imagine it's to eliminate any chance of a team complaining the doctor was working against us.

MAJBobby Posted September 26, 2016 Posted September 26, 2016 It is the reaction, like Taylor looked like he was knocked out, got up woozy so sent to take his baseline test
Just Jack Posted September 26, 2016 Posted September 26, 2016 The answer you seek can be found here..... http://forums.twobillsdrive.com/topic/188767-nfl-senior-vp-of-officiating-explains-concussion-protocol/?do=findComment&comment=4060217
Bubba Gump Posted September 26, 2016 Posted September 26, 2016 this situation has come a long way. Good news really. Unless your name is Cam Newton. On opening night he got knocked silly and was on his hands and knees for quite awhile. The only thing the refs did was hold the clock until he was ready to stumble back to the huddle. That game was a joke when it came to concussion protocol. And of course Carolina doctors did nothing as well because they wanted him to try and win the game in the last minute.

Bubba Gump Posted September 26, 2016 Posted September 26, 2016 Is that all you have to say about that? Well....I also found it funny that a few Bronco players were fined for head shots against Cam a week later. And no, I'm not a fan of Cam Newton. Ok, that's all I got.

And no, I'm not a fan of Cam Newton. Ok, that's all I got. I watched that game actually and found it out of hand as far as hits to the head and aggressive shots. Cam got the raw deal without question and i still say it has come a long way. Bills game was very well officiated IMO. at the very least it was consistent
